The French scholar of Sufism and Islamic thought, Henry Corbin, guided by Sufi mystics and sages, opens up a space for a rich phenomenology of mystical and visionary experience. In this video we explore his conception of the Cosmic North, a vertical dimension of being in which the visionary episodes of mystics take place. We draw on Corbin's reading of the 12th century Sufi mystic and philosopher, Suhrawardi, in particular, his "Recital of Occidental Exile", to help orient us to the Cosmic North.
