On the Cotswold Cottage, you wondered what those holes in the roof on one side were. That was a dovecot in the roof. It was a common this to make a dovecot in a roof of a house to be able to harvest doves for food. The little shelves you see at each entrance were little landing pads for the doves. Here in the colonial period on it was common to make a dovecot separate from the house.
