Good evening sir. May I please ask you, why does the poet say in line number 5 "Summer is come" ? was that because the poet used archaic English? Of course, I am not here to correct the poet because English is his mother tongue but we studied in grammar that verb to be must be followed by Continuous verb. Thank you, sir.

Good day sir, I am so happy to receive such an interesting question, which I will try to answer in different ways: 1- The reason might be just as you stated in your question, 'archaic English' and that depends on the time period of writing the poem. 2- It might be for a rhythmic purpose and maintain the tone of words in each line. 3- Last but not least is the intention of the poet, if a person goes against a grammar rule, it reflects a rebel against something regular. Therefore, it might reflect the will of the poet to go against the hard times of winter, that if we consider Winter as a season, not a life stage and the same would be applicable to Summer, Spring, and Autumn. I hope I did not add further complications to the issue, but your question was so interesting and I tried to answer it in full. Best regards.
