I must say, you did a fantastic job with explaining the techniques in these poems. Homeschooling is challenging with a child on the spectrum, not to mention finding information similar to old teaching techniques I was brought up on. My son was very attentive through this whole video. Bless you and keep up the great work. ❤️

I like how you reffered to it as old teaching techniques. I feel the same and struggle to find quality education. I think we are getting thiner education, everything is instant, there s no deep diving in the matter, as opposed to how old masters used to be educated, perfecting a skill etc. Do you perhaps have any good sources youd recommend for self education, in form of books, online content...Regards

@@sidjenkins111 I have ordered books from Amazon, several in fact. Spanish, History/Civil war, HandWriting, Spelling, language arts. My Son is a 9th grader however, Illinois schools skipped over so many import skills, especially during the plandemic. Just Take some time and do some research when you’re Searching for books. Be specific in what you’re looking for and it will show up.

thank you for this nice and easy to understand lesson! In college they always say you can learn anything on KZbin but it's the great content like this that makes it possible.

Most poetry leaves me cold but I have read or heard poetry that knocked my socks off. I do believe poetry is foundational. I had a friend who challenged me to write a poem, said he'd give me five dollars for every one I completed. It was an interesting experiment and I noticed, it seemed to improve my fiction writing afterwards, like it allowed me to get in touch with something I had no access to before.

As someone who has been trying to write poetry already, but knew no techniques beyond imagery, repetition and contrast. This was enormously helpful, cheers.

So this is extremely helpful. One thing I would like to see though: I now know HOW to use alliteration, assonance, consonance, onomatopoeia, etc. But I would have liked more instruction on WHEN or WHY to use them. What is the psychological, emotional, or aesthetic effect of each technique?

Heard that too and wondered why he changed the word. Did he not see the word 'couch'? Did it change in his mind's eye from 'couch' to 'porch'? Does he hate the word 'couch' and so would put it any word that pops into his head? Hmm, that's a beginning of a poem right there 😉
