Sometimes a "James Man" is so cruel to the woman who loves him. I was so happy at last when he embraced his dear lady at the end. Now I want to find and read this story myself! Thank you for posting it, so rare.

Saw this new in 1975 and never forgot it. I was doubting whether I'd married the right woman. She stuck with me 46 years while I grew the hell up. I'm fortunate past knowing..

@Chaim Mendel Thank you. I'm cared for today by my sweet bride's adopted daughter, son in law and grandson. She was right. Even about me. Have the best new year possible :)

@Chaim Mendel FWIW, Chaim, I was born with mild cerebral palsy in 1938 Pittsburgh as an only kid. My dad had incredible left wing strength while my mom was attractive, bright, guilt-ridden and never knew what to do with me -or my dad thru her death at 89. Similarly, she hated my wife who refused to respond or force me to choose between my parents or her. A hard way to live for decades. Dad, 78 and blind from glaucoma, phoned one night and asked Maxine to "forgive an old man". "Of course!" she replied. They were friends thru his death at age 84. Yes, I've lucked out!

This movie has all the trademark of French or European by and large, of filmmaking transplanted to the US. What a joyous change from all the modern Hollywood crass.

This series is sold, I believe, in Kino Lauder. I picked up a copy of Stephen Crane's The Blue Hotel a couple of years ago, complete w/ Fonda's intro and some bonus stuff. Check it out.

What a pinhead. Why can't people see actors are transgender?
