Thierry made his name in England (Arsenal) he is respected in England and when he went back to France he was also loved there. English football elevated his platform as a footballer which is something I don't think he could get just by playing in the French league, he would have just been another somebody trying to be a somebody. England made a legend out of him which is why he has so much respect for the capital city, which is something France couldn't do for him.
