In August of l989..Mancini walked into my hotel piano gig..and we talked for about 1 and a half hours...about music.So gracious, so charming! He even asked Me to play a few of my own compositions! When he got back to LA from NY ..he sent me a complete anthology of his work...with a lovely letter on the front page of the book! That night was probably oneof the greatest nights of my life...as he made me feel special, and we talked "shop" like two old pros! A total gentleman, RIP dear, Henry!

The late, great legend Henry Mancini who composed the legendary theme tunes to Baby Elephant Walk, The Pink Panther, The Inspector, Moon River and many others. The Inspector Clouseau short cartoons were funny as hell and still watch them today. He was such a nice guy and very humble.

I truly wish more people appreciated his Santa Clause the Movie score. Some of the most beautiful melodies that seem to have just been skipped by many and such romantic and lush sounding strings. Any Mancini fans who hasn’t heard it, do yourself a favour

I've long said someone needs to produce a tribute album of five-star talent nowadays covering his greatest hits. Why not....after all, this sort of thing is in vogue nowadays. Otherwise, a whole generation will pass without ever knowing who Henry Mancini was or what he represented, and his contribution to the arts is going to slip into obscurity, void of the enormous credit it deserves.

Why does an interviewer ask an interview subject to clarify easily discoverable facts that really have no bearing on the interior personality of the interview subject? Seems like a really bad way to start an interview.
@cowsongs4 жыл бұрын
The interviewer doesn't know when Glenn Miller died, and thinks Mancini was a singer after WWII? Mancini talks about the "close harmony" groups his wife sang in, and the interviewer says "Doo wahs"?? It's clear he hasn't done his homework before the interview and isn't qualified to talk about music from that era. Mancini has to use Manhattan Transfer as an example of what he's talking about, because the interviewer is clueless.
@markberryhill27153 жыл бұрын
Definitely agree. The interviewer needs to stick to sports or weather. This wasn't his element.
@marklentine87933 жыл бұрын
The interviewer is aggravatingly clueless. This is embarrassing
@cowsongs Жыл бұрын
"Close harmony stuff"... Interviewer: "Like doo wahs'..."... Ugh. Interviewer is a nitwit who knows nothing about Mancini or the music of his era. And I say "nitwit", because even if he's too young to know Mancini's music, so what? So am I. I was born a year after Moon River was recorded. He has an obligation to do some research before he sits down with such an important guest. What is he doing interviewing Henri Mancini?
