My soul dropped what it was doing, my future suddenly sat up, a memory flew into the room and fell tearful at my feet. Art like this should really come in a horse-drawn carriage, with a warning composed in flawless Assyrian, and take its leave only when the new King falls to slumber. Or so said a note from Purcell's last surviving ancestor. Thank you for this songful prayer wrapped in a pedantic dream, salted as it was with a fine wonder. It was too brief, alas, but enough to feed our grateful family. Return in the next great purple disaster, won't you? We're expecting that before this sad century takes its leave . . .

Lea Desandre is currently my preferred female singer for baroque. She's amazing. I hope she will record more albums in this style, the entire Dido and Aeneas and other baroque gems.

Can it be better? The combined musicality is astonishing. And Lea…. Her voice warms my soul. In march I buried my grandson and on Friday I’m follow my mother to her final resting place. Myself living with MS. This music are my escape and comfort. So thank you so very much! 💙

J'ai écouté, joué et aimé ce lamento toute ma vie ; ma prof de chant était Guillemette Laurens qui avait enregistré une très belle version avec les Arts Flo. Mais là, l'équilibre des 4 instruments (voix comprise) touche à la perfection, la sensibilité musicale et l'émotion sont sublimes et délicates, comme ce deuxième Sol, tout en retenue. Bravo.

I'm sorry things are difficult. Were I in a position to help you, I would. While it won't change anything for you now, I will tell you something. The eternal You, the Soul for which you, the personality & body, are the temporary vehicle, chose at least the possibility of everything you're experiencing & will experience in this lifetime, before you were born. Why does the Soul sometimes choose hard lives, or difficult challenges? To grow. The only way this knowledge can help now, of course, is to begin to understand. If you don't mind my asking, in what country do you live? Does the house have electricity? Is there a chance you could get an electric space heater for your bedroom? It might make things a bit more tolerable. These may seem like silly questions, but I'm just curious. In any case, I hope that, in whatever ways, things improve for you!👍

@@ggalaxy9065 -> I'm living in the BEST place of the world, Antwerp, Belgium and there is a reason for being born here and not somewhere else ... the play a sick mind game with me and you ... of course, I won't end in a box in the street and won't die from starvation, but everything else is permitted ... they hoped I would commit suicide, but start to notice that I know things that I haven't learned from anyone else and doubt if it was such a good idea to treat me like Cinderella and now it's too late to say you're sorry ... kater-INA (Katherina is my official name) will happen and after that experience, people will understand to use their words wisely ... don't speak about the Soul when you don't understand Ka-Ba-La - I wanted to help people, but that would give me too much credit - the only thing people can do at this very moment, is preaching and judging - loosing precious time, but what has to happen, shall happen at the right time it had to happen and nobody ever can change that!

Her voice is strange sometimes she sings mezzo(weak voice in the tessitura) sometimes she sings something from soprano repertoire but she can get the high part easily… here the sound of chamber helps her a lot, she has no low notes no high ones middle voice is most of the time stabilized the greatest dido soprano nilsson, normann and mezzo baker or ermann… sorry. It it’s not for her

I'm a big fan of everybody involved here but I tend to agree that Lea doesn't shine here. I love her voice and invariably her performances, but this piece should pluck strongly on one's heart strings and I think it is just a bit flat.

This is very lovely, but I don’t feel Desandre sang her heart out, which she nearly always does. And it’s stunning when she does, so I’m not sure why she held back so much….
