I bought this rifle in .30-30 and I'm stoked. I've gone almost exclusively to nothing else but pig hunting, and this gun is a tack driver. Most of the time I use my other Henry, a lever action, but sometimes I like to just settle back with a single shot. Exceptional quality for the money. I believe the Imperato family truly care about the quality and finish of their company's products

I have this Henry rifle in .308 and love it. Single shot rifles are great!! I have a few Ruger no. 1 rifles and of course they're single shot as well. My favorite is my .416 Rigby and 375 H&H Ruger no.1 rifles. I wanted a smaller caliber in a single shot rifle and for the money, the Henry is fantastic!!

I had an H&R Single shot in 243 and it was great, so I am looking at the Henry now that H&R is gone. I used the single shot to work up some hand loads and the 243 is quite a versatile cartridge with bullets available from 50 grain all the way to 208 grain (if I remember correctly) It was a wonderful way to get introduced to reloading and the single shot made the "goodness" / quality of my reloading much more "visible". This rifle looks like a winner.

Check it out a little closer. If you're used to the HR you'll find the trigger pull too heavy, the gun weight too heavy, and, if you mount a scope, the stock configuration ungainly. I was absolutely taken with my beautiful Henry 243 single. It is pretty there in the rack where it stays. Now I'm looking for a 243 HR youth in good used condition. I'll replace the stock with a longer one, hone the action a bit, and take it hunting. In my humble opinion the Henry single platform is more suited for 45 70 or some other heavy short ranged caliber. But, with a 9 pound trigger pull, I'd have to think twice about that.

We use them for primitive weapon season in MS. The smallest caliber we can use is a 35 Whelen, so .45-70 is very popular here. We have a few mule deer but a lot of large white tailed deer and large hogs, so the .45-70 does great work to those.

You may have seen this elsewhere, I plan on inserting this when ever I see some one talking about Henry. I want to state that I can not believe any company out there, will come even close to the customer service that Henry has. On 1/30/23 they completely wowed me on a gun (.44 BB) that I have had for 13 years, lets just say that there was a little something wrong with it, I had sent it in 2 or 3 times to have it repaired, they did for free each time. I Happened to buy one of their 45-70 in early January 2023, and noticed that they made a improvement on it, that would have resolved the issue on mine. I emailed them asking them if they could retrofit mine with the improvement, and they replied back same day, they are going to, after they receive mine, send me a brand new one (received 2/24). I have since added to my collection H018G .410 Son-in-Law H004 .22 Daughter H004 .22 Son H001 .22 Me H014Wl .308 H011C Original Henry .45 Colt H015 45-70 Single Shot Its almost like I was trying to fill up one of their Beautiful custom gun cabinets that hold 8, which I have also ordered. BTW these are all made in USA. Including the cabinet.

Single shot rifles are great for carrying around. The overall length is short compared to a rifle with a receiver. They are lighter. They are also great for a nice lazy day of range shooting. I have an H&R 223 single shot. I am looking for another single shot. so many great calibers to choose from.

Wouldn't surprise me if Anthony Imperato brought all of Henry's production to Wisconsin, including rimfire. New Jersey is getting progressively more and more unfriendly to the gun industry. Kind of a novelty though, that rimfire Henry guns are made within sight of the New York City skyline. But every Wisconsin made Henry I've bought has been flawless.

From what I’ve read, the Henry can take it. After all, they make it in 308 and 45-70. Same frame/receiver as far as I know. I’ve never shot that BB load. I typically stick with traditional 200 and 240 loads. I will use this rifle mostly in woods walk and silhouette shoots. Probably less than full house magnum loads most of the time.

I purchased a Henry single shot in .223/5.56 last week from my LGS and didn't check the action until I got home to clean it. The hinge pin is so sloppy that the barrel wobbles 2.5mm at the breach end when the action is open. The hinge pin is so loose it can be pushed out by light thumb pressure. The Henry maintenance video shows the hinge pin needing a punch and hammer to drive it out. I'm very disappointed by the QC at Henry in this rifle. Currently, Henry customer service is closed by COVID-19 so I can't even send it back to get it fixed. Curious if other owners have seen the sloppy hinge pin problem.

I will always like to use single shot because of couple of reasons firstly is you are having in mind that you are having only one shot that's why you shoot very carefully and second one is you shot and the game is finished no more complications I am from India and here the procedure of getting gun license is very difficult at present I am having a breach loading if I will get second weapon permission I will surely choose single shot rifle and last but not the least if my government will grant me permission I will purchase from your shop by the way thanks for such a informative video

I've owned several single shot rifles . H&R , and NEF. The H&R Buffalo classic was my favorite , in 45-70. The Henry single is having a serious look at. If the Henry is as strong as the buffalo classic , I'll definitely be getting one in 45-70. Deer don't run far when hit by this caliber. No scope , NO WAY, on a 45-70. It IS NOT needed if u learn your firearm.

I hunt 95% of the time with single shot. H&R & Ruger was my go to guns but now glad to see Henry taking over where H&R left off. Question is trigger and pull weight? Heard Henry single shots are 9lbs or better on trigger? If true, this would be a no sale for me. Any truth to this?

I just bought one a few days ago ..450 BM,I used a pull gauge and found it was 2.5lb on the tip and 3.5lb in the natural Position half way..I heard about trigger issues in the past and heard they had fixed it..the trigger is amazing

I have about $800 in this gun with a senora $150 dollar scope and a sling. This gun will easily do a 3 shot group under an inch. I put 30 rounds in 2 hours through it and had no fliers. Hornady american whitetail it loves and is a tack driver with. If held wrong it can bruise your shoulder but I overcame my flinch using this gun. Mines in 308 weighing a bit over 8lbs

Single shot break actions are fairly rare. I like them though, they're nice and simple.

Thanks Jona, what's the new performance of the round? - FT
@jonaozo540

@@guncitynewzealand Performance is very good, but.....it really depends on which Powder you choose, along with which projectile you pair it with. Nothing new, per se, with the maximum vs any other straight-wall cartridge, the same ballistics carry through, but we all know that. Also, as expected, barrel length plays a large part. The desired twist has been 1:14 , but I am finding it is not as important as the other factors [above]. I also am seeing the most undesirable performance with (any) projectile less than 158gr, lead, plated, or jackets. So far, I have only used 3 barrel lengths, 22 powder/projectile combos, in each barrel, and two twist rates. 180gr has well out- performed all other weights. One projectile I am seriously waiting to try is the new coated Penn Bullets. First will be the 158gr (available), while I attempt to get Mr. Palermo to make some heavier. More to test soon.

I got one in .223. I added a 4x9 scope and at 200 yrds those gun can shoot nice groups of about 3in groups but being I'm a new shooter I'm sure I can improve over time. There are times I wish I had a bolt action or an automatic to keep shooting but honestly having a single shot is teaching how to be consistent from my stand, breathing and aim.
