Just finished Threadgill’s book where he spoke about creating a new intervalic language inspired on Edgar Varese.. he started that new music with the second album of Zooid when the musicians were getting used to this new language so they could improvise on it

Zooid was the most fluid of his bands. The rhythm section could finesse through the most complicated charts. This period of Threadgill’s career is my favorite. They seemed to go where Ornette may have wanted to go, but didn’t...
