Amazing history. I always hope that some crypt, crawl space, or forgotten archive will be found containing writings that will shed light on these small immigrations and movements. Thanks!

Still waiting on the Jews of Persia and Caucuses. All episodes are interesting; however, predominantly all episodes about Jews of Europe.

There is so much that I do not know. So much that I was not taught that would help me to understand what is going on in the world today. Do you have authors or books whose names you could send me so that I may do some research and entertain and educate myself in this? Thank you for your wonderful program. I always enjoyed them. You bring a part of history to life that I apparently missed out on what I was in school.

I always thought that not being catholic during the Albigensian Crusades from 1209 on in Southern France was equal with being ill-adviced. Any smart and wise people with the means to afford a longer travel would certainly pack up and go searching for greener meadows, ere people could turn on them. Especially people that liked discussing religious ideas with religiously ambiguous neighbours and 'heretics' might have all reasons to fear to be tossed into the flames along with them, for being found guilty of giving them ideas. Researchers claimed Catharism came into existance due to a trading-chain that included Sindhi&Rom (because of reincarnation), Zoroastrian (because of dualism), Armenian, Aromunian, Bosnian/Bogumilic and Lombard/Lollard wool-traders&-workers. But them denying the new testament had any historic background and that christ ever had a bodily existance, instead being more of an angel on the right side of god, might have sounded unhelpful to deny any rabbinic influences. Though 'Burn them all, god will recognize his own' has been debunked as a litteral quotation, the used line from the alleged Petrus-letter that was used in giving the fatal command at Beziers instead, allowed this very interpretation by the crusaders. If I hear the inhabitants of a city flee into their catholic church for safety, but the church is burnt down by christians, anyways... And once I hear people were condemned for having dealings with 'contemptous people like buisinessmen, lawyers and Jews' (lawyers definitively being the most numious entity in all of medieval france)... - And with the warring parties having doused the whole region in flames by 1211, and then add some war-maddened dishomed people that claim god spoke to them that 'The end is nigh', I would definitively think I had outstayed my welcome, and might be needed elsewhere, I would not necessarily bother with packing a lot, ere I discreetly make my way down to the banks of the Rhone hitching a ride for the next ship to Jerusalem to pay a visit to somebody I really thought worth visiting.

Thank you, Professor: a fascinating talk, as always! One small suggestion: the automatically generated subtitles are distracting, especially when they inaccurately transcribe your words (e.g. substituting “stages” for “sages” or “province all” for “provençal”).

Where is the grand Rabbi council located now? The first one was in the land of Israel, then they moved it to Babylon, then they moved again to Andalusia, and after the Muslims came, they moved again to Poland. But after the third partition of Poland, the council moved to a location which is kept secret to this day. Do you know where it is now? I guess if it's secret then nobody would know except for the Rabbies invited to it.

Jews went to join their brethren. Holy land not given to the children of Edom but to the children of Ishmael. Based on Zohar Shemot 32A [R. Hiyya then says] Woe is to the time that Ishmael was born into the world and was circumcised. What did G‑d do [to appease Ishmael]? He distanced the children of Ishmael from supernal cleaving and gave them [only] a portion below in the Holy Land on account of their circumcision. And in the future, the children of Ishmael are destined to rule over the Holy Land for a long time when it is empty from anything, like their circumcision which is empty and imperfect. And they will prevent the children of Israel from returning to their place until the reward for the merit of the children of Ishmael reaches completion. The children of Ishmael [i.e. the Arab nations] will cause great wars in the world and the children of Edom will gather against them and wage war against them, one on the sea, one on the dry land, and one near Jerusalem. And they [the children of Edom] will rule over them [the children of Ishmael], but the Holy Land will not be given over to the children of Edom. [The children of Edom is the Christian West, for Edom is Rome (see Num. 24:19, Rashi) and Rome signifies Greece-Rome and the Roman Catholic Church, the foundations of Western Civilization]

@@beneleonhard7915 In all honesty, I am not interested in a historian who takes the events of the Bible seriously. It is all nonsense I understand that being raised on these fairy tales corrupted his mind But history is a respectable and proficient science, and there should be no overlap between beliefs and science

@@yaseensharawi8034 right, but terminology is just about who used which term when and how. That is accesible to a scientific approach. Many terms have been used in different ways and at different times. Although, humans tend to sometimes be clear and scientific and sometimes biased. It doesn't devalue anything they say or said that is correct. And I find some earlier videos, particularly on the usage of terms, quite interesting and correct, as far as I can see.

Zahir Muhsein was a Palestinian leader of the pro-Syria As-Sa'iqa Ba'athist faction of the Palestine Liberation Organization between 1971 and 1979. In an interview with Trouw Magazine, 31. March 1977 he stated....."The Palestinian people do not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity exists only for tactical reasons. The establishment of a Palestinian state is a new tool to continue the fight against Israel and for Arab unity. So where are the geographical roots of the so called Palestinians??????? Hamas Minister of the Interior and of National Security Fathi Hammad, aired by Al-Hekma TV on March 23, 2012. Stated..........we all have Arab roots, and every Palestinian, in Gaza and throughout Palestine, can prove his Arab roots - whether from Saudi Arabia, from Yemen, or anywhere. We have blood ties. Personally, half my family is Egyptian. We are all like that. More than 30 families in the Gaza Strip are called Al-Masri ["Egyptian"]. Brothers, half of the Palestinians are Egyptians and the other half are Saudis. Who are the Palestinians? We have many families called Al-Masri, whose roots are Egyptian. Egyptian! They may be from Alexandria, from Cairo, from Dumietta, from the North, from Aswan, from Upper Egypt. We are Egyptians. The so called Palestinians are not even from Palestine!!!!!!

"There is no such thing as Palestine in history, absolutely not." -- Arab Princeton Professor, Philip Hitti, before the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry in Jerusalem in 1946. "We [Palestinians] were never an independent state in history, we were part of an Arab state and an Islamic state.” -- Palestinian Hamas Foreign Minister Mahmoud Zahhar (quoted in The Economist, February 2, 2008) If Palestine were an Arab state, at any point in recorded history, why was there no mention of them? Because there never was an Arab Palestinian nation, nor any nation called Palestine, ever. In 1964 Yasser Arafat visited Moscow, USSR. While there, the Soviet KGB (secret service) developed a strategy for him. Arafat would be the leader of a new organization named PLO, Palestinian liberation organization. The KGB recommended that the Arabs create a new identity for themselves that would called Palestinian.
