One Carbine To Do It All? Henry Homesteader 9mm Carbine

Just picked one up at Cabela's today. Got a Sig P320 mag adaptor on the way in the mail given I never jumped on the Glock bandwagon. Nothing against Glock, just never owned one. I'm just grateful there is an option to use my P320 mags. I was getting to the point where I thought I was going to have to invest in Glock mags just to be able to enjoy shooting a PCC given many if not most can take those mags. So, thanks Henry for having additional options. I'm looking forward to getting it dirty later this week my new mag adaptor arrives.

Well, the Sig mag well is kinda trash IMO. Lots of jams and several times, the bolt doesn't lock open on an empty mag. This after 800 rds so it should've been "broken in" IMO. I ended up trading one of my other Sigs (SP2022) for a Glock 47 and I got the Glock mag well for the Henry. Works flawlessly now. Now I know why nearly every review for the Homesteader is with Glock mags. It works with Glock.

Everybody wants a 10mm rifle, and I do too, but most don't realize that trim blow-back action is not compatible with 10mm pressures. It is not a locked breech and the only thing that keeps the action closed is the size and weight of the bolt. Would take a lot heavier mechanism to contain the 10mm. The Hi-Point Carbine chambers 10mm but look how clunky and ungainly it is. What we need is for someone to come out with a dedicated gas operated 10mm carbine in something other than an AR platform.

Love mine, bought the Glock mag well, a Henry sling and muzzle break off the Henry website. Great additions to a great weapon. What optic is that you’re running and base plate?

Do it all? Probably not, the PCC is just too limited for anything serious. But it’s still a handy little gun that I can see getting plenty of use from if I had the cash for a bonus gun. Having it for a little bring along gun for doing chores in an agricultural or rural setting feels pretty right.

There is a non restricted version in Canada. Actually only one of the semi auto that slipped thru the recent ban.

A good way to mess up your accuracy is to ding your barrel crown, such as allowing anything hard to contact it, like letting it ride on your floor board, which could also introduce a stoppage if something was lodged in it, which could be catastrophically dangerous to you or someone else.

No it wouldn't have been a hit. The 10mm is a super common caliber like the 9mm. It'd kinda pricey too, plus the mags can be the same too. That they made it in 9mm was a good move...

I really wish you would stop calling the Homesteader "a do-all carbine". There are many states that do not allow 9mm for shooting deer, or any other big game animals. The Henry 357mag, 44mag, and 45Colt carbines are the true "do-all firearms". I have a Homesteader and like it very much but it's uses are limited. It also does not carry as well as a lever-action carbine, (with or without a sling). The Homesteader also will not go into a horse saddle scabbard or an ATV gun case unless you use the small 5 round magazine, (I can only get 4 rounds into mine).
