The Story of My National Trust Passport!
Another video from lockdown. In this episode I show you my National Trust passports which stamps from the properties I've visited including some which are no longer open to the public.
I also feature my similar books for YHA (Youth Hosteling Association).
National Trust Properties include Arlington Court, Cliveden, Rainham Hall, Colby Woodland Garden, Abrdulais Falls, Stratford-upon-Avon Shop, Culloden Battlefield, York Shop, Wells Shop, Heelis, Blewcoat School, Saltram, Carlyle's Birthplace and Carlyles House.
YHA properties include Castle Hedingham, Blaxhall, Great Yarmouth, Norwich, Slimbridge, and Dimmingdale.

dear harrys adventures ------ /posible idea for story //// i was watching video on weybridge which has some quite interesting history --- car cicuit car museum trains and history st gerges hill estate with architect tarrant /// saw a vintage green bus in someones video ---- then checked nearby is a bus museum preservation ----- often used in movies -- covent garden has a good transport museum but this one have running buses Over the next few years, the Group worked hard to turn the near-derelect building into a storage facility and workshop for some 35 buses. In 1974, by then called Cobham Bus Museum, the Group held their first Open Day, an event which has been held annually, with increasing popularity, ever since and is now known as the Spring Bus & Coach Gathering. quite a lot in area ----- know area quite well would have moved there but now retire to france /// between viginia water and the local palaces quite a lot for those who like history etc good channel ...

Not than many people do know about them including quite a few National Trust members! Next time you visit a National Trust property have a look and the shop and you should find them!

Blue passports??? Don't get me going on that! Seriously, when we eventually get to open up the National Trust Nether Alderley Mill again come and see us. I'm a volunteer Miller and a guide there. You mention Alderley Edge... There isn't a visitor centre for The Edge (it's not a 'property', just an area of countryside) so that's probably why you couldn't get a stamp.

I did visit Nether Alderley Mill last year but would love to visit again! I'll let you know when I'm out that way. I'm sure on a old list of places you could get your passport stamped Alderley Edge was on it so maybe there was one of those mobile information centers like you get at some of these National Trust countryside areas?

That's interesting about Bluecoat school. I worked at Scotland Yard and passed it everyday. The stamps are very nice. Have you been to Tanners Hatch Youth Hostel in Dorking ?

That's Bluecoat School is just round the corner from Scotland Yard. Not been to Tanners Hatch yet but it could be a good weekend of NT and YHA stamps and Henry's Adventures!

What an interesting idea - thank you. I wonder if the idea behind having the picture of a different place on the stamp is to tempt you to go to another property?

Norwich YHA used to be in Waterworks Road. It is gone now, replaced by rabbit boxes.

Thank you for letting me know. I've just had a look and I think I've located the site of it. Was it on the corner of Turner Road?

@@HenrysAdventures Yes, IIRC it was there. That's also the only part of W/Rd that has new build. It was a biggish Victorian or Edwardian building. Went past it many time years ago and hadn't noticed it had vanished until recently. We are losing much Vic/Edw architecture here. It isn't valued. Seems that if it isn't medieval it isn't woth a toss.Lost a lovely art deco building in ctl Norwich in the same decade as YHA went.

That's just how I remember it. It was on a corner as you say a big Edwardian building. I seen to think it was mainly two stories with a 3rd storey in the middle. It remember the rooms were huge. It closed not long after we stayed there. In late 2002 the YHA closed about 12 hostels due lost revenue from the Foot & Mouth outbreak. I hope a similar axe doesn't fall later this year.

@@HenrysAdventures Yes, that sounds like the building I remember too. I wonder if F&M disease was just a convenient cover for an axe that was going to fall anyway...

@@HenrysAdventures If you look at the Google Streetview image for 2008 you can see the rabbit boxes under construction. The cynic in me wonders if the YHA had been made an offer they couldn';t refuse for the site
