After I saw the ending to this episode, I thought the Storyteller was the Soldier. I don't know why for certain. But when he said, "He's a rare bread, my friend the Soldier. I'm just he's about his business somewhere." It just made me wonder.

The storyteller has his insignia his whistle the sack and the foot on his mantle I believe. Also there were some stale biscuits in the sack.

​@@Beer-can_full_of_toest there's a few holes in this story as he gave the sack to the nameless soul to call him into it he already gave the foot back and he also already gave away the biscuits unless.he got some more irregardless he couldn't get the sack back so unless he's treating some random sack as a memento it wouldn't make much sense maybe he blackmailed another foot off a devil but it wouldn't make much sense

Oh my God! I remember this show! My grandma took me to the library a few yearss ago and I found this with all of the things on it. My brothers and sisters watched it with me and we loved it. Of course, I've always loved anything that Jim Henson did (awesome work with puppets man!) I've finally found part of my childhood that I couldn't find! Hazah!

My favorite tv show of all times. When I was a kid a watched it in Peruvian televition and my family recordered it on Betamax. Such a great times even the country was summed in economic crisis and terrorism.

Picked up the collection on DVD about a year ago. I am SO sad that it didn't air longer. The first season with all the old stories was the best. The second season with it's Greek Legends was good, but the Folk Tales were my favorite. (I'm now trying to develop a character based on The Story Teller himself for Faires and other events.)

I wish I could have watched this as a kid. I grew up with a similar show, though. The name escapes me, but it opened with an animated bard and each story was acted out with no spoken dialogue, but had a narrator acting out all the parts.

i just love the part when he goes: "what do you call this?" Devils: "Its a sack!" "Is it? Then by the grace of God get in it!" did that so some of my work mates in primark. "whats this?" workmates: "its a basket!" "well if its a basket then get in it!" ... sadly none tried to get in it.... more they gave me a strange look and laughed..

I loved this on reruns as a kid. It's a shame that Jim passed on because I think his more serious and adult stories he had the pleasure of telling and being a part of where great and that if he had survived he would've gone on to do many things and I imagine wind oscars.
