Ultrasound findings reveal a large echogenic gallstone at the neck of a moderately overdistended gallbladder. The gallbladder lumen shows echogenic matter with hepatization, suggesting bile stasis or thickened bile, resembling liver tissue. Color Doppler imaging shows no vascularity within the gallbladder wall or contents, indicating the absence of acute inflammation. The patient is asymptomatic, with no signs of infection or pain.
The most likely diagnosis is a mucocele of the gallbladder, where the gallstone obstructs the neck, leading to mucus or bile accumulation and overdistension. Although the patient shows no symptoms, mucocele poses risks of complications such as acute cholecystitis or gallbladder perforation if untreated.
Management typically involves elective cholecystectomy to prevent complications, though conservative monitoring may be appropriate in the short term if the patient remains asymptomatic.
