every time I hear this I think of the man who I will never know as my real father. Hidden from me for years yet right by side as my mother's friend for years. He loved his gibson and loved to gather with others and just jam, sit, sing play spoons. Mostly older country and bluegrass. Drinking beer,laughing, talking and just enjoying togetherness. SADLY, He died of lung cancer and before he died he told me he was my real father. he wanted to be a recognized for his music. He wanted to be a country music star. My mother never told me any of this. I recently discover a couple large boxes while closing my moms estate and wouldn't you know, He had made a couple 45's (old schooled thick vinyl) I heard Jim's voice for the first time in almost 25 years later! He had made so many recordings. Nova's song really touches home with me. It couldn't have come out at a better time and I 100% feel what she is saying. Makes me cry every time. I miss this man so very much and so wish I would have been given the chance to know him like a father.

I've listened to this song so many times in the last week, and every time, I feel a whole different emotion. The one that hit me the hardest tonight was the fact that I just realized that I didn't tell my mom that she did her best. A single mom at 18, busted her ass to make a good life for my sis and I and we just lost her in Oct. She was 60. I thought I had more time to tell her all the things I wanted to say. I can relate to this song. I love Tom and Nova. When I was 18, I was raped and almost beaten to death. I pick myself up from depression. Then at 19 I got pregnant from a guy that finally trusted and he left me. I raised my son by myself for four years. I got married, went to collage. And kept climbing that mountain. Now I was diagnosed with a crippling disease and my fingers are deformed. But I keep telling myself it could be worse. I’m trying my best. Thank you Simbatv. Your videos always make me smile.
