If Sophie wants to continue to do the summer series I highly suggest she gets some new boots (or even half chaps), hair nets and a shirt where she can do her collar! A tack store shopping spree is in order 😊 Presentation is really important for the riders comfort and to respect the judges. Good teamwork Sophie and Gabby, congratulations 💜

Totally agree, a riders presentation is just as important as your horses. Even if this is a schooling show of sorts, the little things (like hair being neat in a hair net) demonstrate you took the extra time to be polished and clean as a respect for the judges and the many people it takes to run a show. Sophie’s boots are a distraction from her actual riding. It’s time for new boots. These no longer fit and even if they “can” do up, this is not the first show that they are undone or they come down. I agree, half chaps my be the better option until Sophie stops growing.

A lot of boot repair places could even add a gusset for her boot and I think I remember somewhere online selling a zipper piece to extend to back part of the boot.

Im trying to say this in the nicest way possible and I know about Sophies medical problems when she was a baby but it isnt fair to her to weigh so so much. Sophie weighs way to much and her future is going to be a lot harder and may even be compromised. She needs to loose weight so she can do all the fun things that teenagers get to do without being limited due to her weight. You guys have to take responsibility for this and get her on a diet or even in a work out class, its not fair to her. I love you guys and your channel but it isnt okay to let this go, and I even noticed that your grand kids are on the heavier side. Please take responsibility for this and dont take my comment the wrong way, im just trying to help. Love you guys! ❤❤❤

I just dont want her to miss out on things later in life due to her weight and I know its been hard for her due to the medical problems when she was a baby but I dont want her life to be limited when it comes to physical activity and running and stuff like that! You guys are so amazing and I know your going to try super hard at this!

As a total outsider, I’m going to tell you how it sounds. It sounds to me like you are weight shaming and that’s just NOT ok. I can tell you that I am overweight, I have been most of my life and I can assure you that my weight has never prevented me from doing ANYTHING I have wanted to do. Frankly it is not your place to tell Sam and Laura that they need to get her in ANY kind of class or diet. That is THEIR business. Not yours. To then add that Their grandchildren’s weights are some how their responsibility is absurd! When did it become acceptable to publicly criticize total strangers for the way they choose to live their lives and then basically demand that they change to YOUR personal opinion of what’s right or wrong? Someone needs to teach YOU when to voice your opinion and when to keep your thoughts to yourself. I know that I myself have had to remind myself of this very thing a time or two.. but as opinionated as I can be, I would NEVER call someone’s CHILD/GRANDCHILD out for their weight!

Storm did an awesome job. He knows the the difference in classes, road hack and pleasure . This horse would do awesome as versatility horse in open shows. My children plus students and i had many versatility horses. Their few horses that cannot do it. Sophie you did awesome. Im glad you didn't show equitation. The judge would not placed you. Laura , boots are a safety factor as well as a helmet. Please get boots that fit properly. It is unprofessional looking. It gives the impression of not knowing what you are doing as an parent in the show world, you as a show parent must make sure everything is amost perfect if not perfect. Sophie job will done. Sit tall show your stuff. And make sure you are tidy. Also try your apparel on before your show to make sure everything fits and looks stunning. I didn't see anything wrong except the judge may of caught it when Storm hesitated by your mom and when he didn't extend is trot. Your riding got better in each class. Proud of you both. Gabby will done.

I wasn't expecting her to show English this year and she got ready when I was away. I got back and she was on the horse. I was just so proud of how independent she was. Next show will definitely be better!

The reason storm isn’t so responsive is Sophie’s amount of weight in that horse he seems uncomfortable she needs to loose some weight it’s not good for the horse it will ruin his back! STOP DOING THIS DAY BY DAY ITS KILLING ME

Sophie and her tack is within the proper weight limit for storm. If the show had weight checked, she would have been allowed to show him.

@@DayByDayVlogst’s so hard to tell someone’s weight by looking at them too. I’m the same height and size as my mom, but I outweigh her significantly despite wearing the same size clothes. My aunt looks bigger, yet weighs less than both of us. 🤷‍♀️ Also, Sophie’s a kid is she not? It doesn’t seem right to comment on her weight if she’s a minor and publicly shame her. That isn’t tactful or respectful. As a mother too, I feel for you having people make comments like that about your child. ❤

Thank you! I absolutely agree with you! You truly can't tell! There is so much bad that can come when discussing a child's weight on social media, and I definitely don't want anything to do with that. The one positive thsts comes from this is that sophie has learned to not listen to unkind people who don't know anything about her or her struggles. She's become stronger from it!

By the end of that class you and the horse hit your stride. He relaxed, his head lowered to a comfortable place and he wasn't as strung out in the hocks. Once he engaged his hind end he lightened up in the front, making it easier to swing his shoulders which makes for a more comfortable ride for you and a better looking ride for both of you. Keep up the good work. You two make a lovely team.

Yes Sophie! Congratulations. I think that's the best I've seen Sophie ride, Storm looked lovely and those walk to canter transitions were fantastic. I think the western lessons and riding bareback have helped her loads. Gabby is a fantastic coach with Sophie and she knows storm like the back of her hand. Maybe some boots that stay done up and a shirt that can do right up would be a good idea for the next show and idk how it is there but we always had hair in a hairnet and bun for showing.

Ya! We were a bit of a hot mess. I was busy with 3 kids showing and sophie got herself packed and ready! We couldn't find her hair net and I wasn't there to help her do up her shirt or her boots!

Its a schooling show so not really a big deal ;) Since she's been doing western I wouldn't even worry about the boots that much, maybe just some half chaps for when she wants to ride english.
