Thanks James, Cleo, Antony, Damani and Lawrie. A brilliant and novel video that I thoroughly enjoyed. Lots of fascinating perspectives, brilliantly communicated. I think I need to watch it all again! As for what I think of the R8. I am an owner and it was my first (and so far only) supercar. So probably a case in point. Too many good things to say about it but ultimately yes, I think it is a good first supercar. It gives you what you want without the stuff you don't. It's got the looks, performance, sound and handling, whilst (relatively) limiting the big drawbacks of costs, breaking down and lack of practicality (apart from limited storage). Two additional points worth noting: 1/ A reassuring point for me, as a first supercar, was actually the 4WD. It helped me feel reassured, as a relatively novice/regular driver, that I had some safeguard against crashing it. Of course, with the 70%-85% rear bias, I was also happy it wasn't too boring. 2/ I know its a big debate, but I think the V10 is probably needed to put it clearly into (baby) supercar territory. I did try the V8 and whilst it ticks most of the supercar boxes, and I would defend an argument for it being considered a supercar, in terms of performance it didn't feel like a meaningful step up from a decent sports car (I came from a Z4MR, and it didn't feel like a big enough jump). I suspect many other first time super car buyers will be coming from sporty cars.

To me if I had a great wealth and could afford super cars I think letting trusted friends have a go in them would bring a lot of joy. To me that's part of what owning a super car should be about. I hate that so many of them spend their lives never turning a wheel mothballed as investment items. I also think a high mileage car that has been looked after by an enthusiastic owner is probably in much better shape than a low mileage one that has been mothballed for years. So I don't always worry too much about mileage. Great video James, I think you could do more of these alongside your more technical appraisals of cars. How about taking 3 cars to your local school and getting the kids to rate them, I think that would be an interesting video once lockdown is over.

The line running from the door rear edge makes it look like the car is about to break in half. Maybe it is something which looks better in person but all I've seen in video look like Audi did not want to have to incur the expense of a total redesign for a super car. "Let's just stretch a TT!".
