Me owing an Audi I can also add this, in my case I have Xenon headlights so there’s no level slider to tilt the headlights since they are automatic. In my case I have a 2 position slider to turn on/off daylight running lights. Since in many euro countries laws don’t require daylights I guess that was just a way to make something of that blanc space and give you the option to turn them off or on.

My favorite story about the R8 development was that they had plans for an R8 TDi with a V12. The only prototype burst into flames on the Nüremburgring because the Engine produced to much torque for the transmission to handle. That's insane. I wish they'd figured out how to make that transmission work so we could see those torque numbers.

I gotta admit, as quirky as this guy is, the FACT that he goes over the quirks a car has, to me is SO important because its THOSE very things that make a car unique. Everyone has traction control, everyone has a door handle, everyone has a shifter, but it's how you design and place those things and attention to detail that make a car truly stand out. This guy gets hyped over little stuff sometimes and can get carried away with his reviews and video titles, but you gotta hand it to him, we can all agree, Doug has some level of charisma that keeps us watching his videos. But by no means the best reviewer, just a very unique guy with a unique approach and that's what i like about this kid. Keep it up doug ;) you quirky ass muthafucka ! =P

Fabián López-Toro Dressing well is expensive though. The “rich people” who wear suits all the time isn’t because they’re “rich”. It’s because their job requires them to dress that way. But in reality, if someone is rich, they don’t need to buy expensive clothes to let people know they’re rich. Money talks, clothes don’t. It’s about using the money wisely, investing and profit. Not go on shopping sprees for clothes they’ll wear in the house outside of work. That’s why when people win the lottery, they go broke real quick. They just spend and spend instead of using the money wisely to try and make more profit.

The other dial besides the dial for the brightness of the cockpit is to adjust the height of the lights if the car have ordinary halogen headlights. Xenon headlights have automatic height adjustment so the second dial is not built in. That's really common and was available in millions of other cars. And yes, the third cup holder in the middle is for an energy drink can!
@HeisiTV
@HeisiTV 7 жыл бұрын
I guess I know what the dial is for. Audi probably borrowed it from another model which needed it to adjust the height of the front lights in case the car has some heavy stuff in the trunk. Obviously, an R8 does not need that.

1) The small rear windows are there to make the side windows smaller in order to be able to roll all the way down into the doors. 2) The little middle cupholder is designed for standard esspresso cup size which we drink in Europe. 3) The blank dial next to the dimmer is usually for adjusting aim of the headlights. This R8 probably doesnt need that, or has some automatic system. So they used generic part which they use in all Audis, but left the dial blank.

For the blank switch next to the dimmer switch for the speedometer/tachometer/etc. That blank is supposed to be where your adjustable headlights roller switch would be. I'm originally from Cali and just moved to the U.K. and found this to be a thing. I bought an Audi TT and a Volvo S60 with that feature that you can't find in the states. It essentially allows you to fine tune where the non bright headlight resting position is. I find it very useful when going from a city setting to a country setting as you don't want to blind pedestrians and fellow drivers in the city, but in the country where there is more road than people, its better to see further out when you aren't using your brights!

For the exclamation marks, it's not that they were excited. It's the fact that they are German and you can't speak German without yelling.

Great review as usual; just forgot to mention that Audi also started the trend of large front grilles.

Doug that's blank switch next to the dimmer knob may be the angle of the direction for the head lights allowing the headlights to angle up in order to light up farther out in front of the car, and closer to the car for foggy conditions. Looks identical to a few cars I've driven in the past.

YTYTYTY don't think so. his videos are in the recommended box a lot and the "exotic" cars draw in viewers

YTYTYTY I'm not gonna lie, whenever a new video shows in my feed, I always watch it. Doug's style of reviewing car is a laid back persona I can relate to. He embodies what most guys would usually react when they have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a beast

What’s funny is that Doug was born the same year as me, but I always thought he’d be more of a peer to people my parent’s age.

the second dial next to the gauge dimmer is to adjust the headlight level, its the same switch panel that audi use in the vw golf and a3. the idea is that if you have alot of luggage in the back the front of the car will pitch up so your lights would be shining in other drivers eyes, this guage allows you to point the lights down to stop this. since the R8 doesnt have storage in the rear this cant happen so you dont need the switch.

I rememeber seeing an R8 for my first (and only) time in person. I was like 9 when i saw it just sitting there in a parking lot of a Porsche dealership. And when it caught my eyes i went running to look it up close followed by my mom and our female neighbor. it was white whith the iconic black strip and a bit dusty and it looked like something from outer space, like what doug said about how it looks like the coolest car ever when u see it person... and the second thing i did after admiring the overall shape of the car was to see its top speed on the speedometer from the window and i was shocked and hyped when i saw that it could reach 350 kph... it was one of the best days of my life. I saw couple aston matins in that parking lot too
