They needed a whole chior to replace ICS Vortex.... lol.

The choir parts were originally sung by the bassist, ICS Vortex, but he left the band in 2009, so ever since then, they've had a choir, or female vocalist sing them. But it's just not the same. Vortex had a great voice and delivered those clean lines very uniquely within a black metal song.

I have loved Dimmu Borgir' music since late 90's, but it took me over two decades to really get past of that type of singing, and actually start to like it as well. Real DB fans like the old line-up more, but for me these live concerts (Oslo and Wacken) with full orchestra are just perfect. I have always hoped Nightwish would do such thing.

For the first time she definitely should not be watching this video. Part of what made Dimmu so great back in the day was Vortex's hauntingly beautiful voice, as well as Mustis' piano. Hearing it with the choir and orchestra is just not the same.

ICS Vortex's contrast to Shagrath was always part of the experience. They have a talented lineup now, but you can't recreate that magic.

Yep, ICS Vortex smacks that choir's ass when he sings the part the choir sings! My personal opinion is that it is a disgrace to use a simple chorus when you have ICS Vortex in your band!
