He is one of America's greatest songwriters. I'm Scottish, and I know he is loved here. I can't believe you haven't heard of him. His songs have been covered by so many of America's greats - Janis Joplin, Johnny Cash, Perry Como and on and on etc. He helped in the career of another of your great songwriters, John Prine. Also, to mock his name is pretty disrespectful. He obviously has Scandinavian roots, and that is where the name comes from.

I usually enjoy your reactions. In this case, I think you are completely off. Kris wasn’t known for his voice; more so for his writing. That being said I have always enjoyed listening to his version of his songs. His writing catalogue is extensive and contains some of the biggest hits of the 60’s and 70’s. His masters degree is in literature. He was assigned to be a professor at West Point but decided to resign his commission and head to Nashville to write songs. In the late 60s/early 70s he was one of the biggest stars in America. There was a special several years ago where Nora Jones said she couldn’t believe she was going to get to sing with one of her idols. She was so emotional about it. Research his catalogue. There are some songs that he sounds better than others. Kris is a songwriting icon!

These people are really annoying and childishly disrespectful .On the other hand, this is the least appealing of all of Kris’s performances of this song that I have ever heard. It’s unfortunate they chose this particular video. The music alone was an assault on my ears. I love Kris, but this was an awful video. But this lady was worse. Making fun of an artist in reaction videos is pretty tasteless. If you don’t care for the music at least be tactful about it. If you don’t like their name keep that to yourself. And by the way, Kris will be missed. It’s hard to believe he left us just a few days ago. He had a long run and was loved by many. I guess having to see yet another country music legend leave us, makes it all the more offensive to see him laughed at and mocked. I won’t be tuning into to hear the opinions of these people anymore.

First and last reaction. Giggling like fools at his name. I think Lady GaGa is a funny name. To quote Kiris "You're the only one that you are screwing when you put down what you don't understand". From the song "If you don't like Hank Williams, you can kiss my ass".

Kris has written a lot of hits and his songs have been covered a thousand times bt various artists. Everybody knows Me And Bobby McGee, Help Me Make It Through The Night, Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down, For The Good Times... a favorite of mine is Why Me. On the 1970 Album "Kristofferson", Kris recorded a piece with a spoken introduction entitled To Beat The Devil and you can just see Kris, the struggling singer/songwriter in this scene, before he became one of the most famous guys in Nashville.

Kris Kristofferson's voice is not to everyone's liking. In fact, my ex-husband told me he that the guy couldn't carry a note if he had a bucket. Note, that is my ex-husband. Truth is that it is his song writing that was where he made his mark and there are a lot of songs, he wrote that other singers had huge hits with. Some of them were Help Me Make it Through the Night, For the Good Times, Me and Bobby McGee, Sunday Morning Coming Down, Why Me Lord. And I do not believe this particular version of this song is the best version of it he has recorded. I do think that Kris Kristofferson introduced lust and sex into country music with many of his songs. Help Me Make it Through the Night is about I'm lonely and want to be laid and I don't care about the consequences and tomorrow. And For the Good Times is a couple that are parting ways, but someone says before you leave lets hit the bedsheets one last time for old time sake. He pushed the limits of country music when his music first came out.

He played opposite Streisand in 1976 "A Star is Born." Songs such as "Me and Bobbi McGee," "Sunday Morning Coming Down," "Help Me Make it Through The Night," and "For the Good Times." Many more. Oh, and he played Whistler in the "Blade" movies. Rhodes Scholar, captain in the Army (airborne), Golden Gloves boxer. Very interesting character that has overcome his demons.

Everyone else here covered who Kristofferson actually is. If you haven't heard Janis Joplin sing Bobby McGee you are massively missing out. But i came to explain the kids game you mentioned with names. It was a big hit called The Name Game by Shirley Ellis. Early, mid 60's I'm pretty sure. I was a kid then and yes, we loved it, it was a playground regular. The big kids really loved daring the little kids to do Chuck. It took me a few years to figure out why this was so funny to the big kids. That was not an everyday word back then, at least not to younger folks.

Kris was a huge music star before he started acting, so he uses his real name. He wrote Me and Bobby McGee, Sunday Morning Coming Down, and a ton of other great country songs. Close buddy of Willie Nelson. Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. The four of them formed a super group in later years called The Highwaymen.

You're listening to a legend of country music who turned a ballad into a rockabilly bop, but didn't lose a bit of the emotion in the poetry of the song. Play her the original version of this beautiful song and I bet she would appreciate this faster version.

When Kris performed his songs, he was not country. The song you just played was covered by Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Top Paul Glasser and many others. He wrote songs that were huge hits for Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Ray Price, Christy Lane, Emmylou Harris and too many others to mention. Kristofferson never intended to be a singer song writer, just a song writer. Some producer asked him once why he was not making records to which he said "I sound like a frog" The producer replied " yes but you sound like a frog with heart". None of his own albums are country but if you take a look at a list of songs recorded by country artists, then you will get it. Other song writers who's own recordings were less country sounding but wrote great country songs covered by many country artist include Jerry Jeff Walker Guy Clark, Billy Joe Shaver, and Jessi Colter just to name a few. keep diggin and enjoy

This song was a major anthem of the outlaw country movement. A great version was recorded by Waylon Jennings. Willie Nelson also recorded it. This was not Kris' best version. It was played way too uptempo with too many instruments. IMO the best version by any singer is his original studio recording.
