I worked at a hair salon with absolutely no prior experience or any studies, they hired me to help and eventually let me do clients by myself. Two weeks into it and I had to bleach an asian client who used blue/black box dye to undo the previous red she tried. It was an absolute nightmare and the stylist was teaching me what to do but all I could think was, why am I even here, this is professional work. Turns out it was easy, with the right technique, the right amount of product and sectioning correctly. I wouldn’t do that on myself tho, considering I had to ask for a second pair of hands on the client to properly handle the back of her head so it process evenly. Now I’m a buyer and I work next to a hair salon. It wasn’t for me because I think, hairstylist are artists and I could feel my lack of passion for hair when I saw them literally coming to life once they entered their shifts.

Had a hair horror story with a stylist doing highlights on my fine, level 6/7 hair. He started in the front, and left the bleach on for 1 1/2 hours. Hair on the crown /front melted! The aftermath led to a mental breakdown at home, and I couldn't believe how much I paid for the ordeal. Two months later, I've got finally a micro fringe length. Wish I'd done it myself and followed Hair Buddha's advice 🌟 Learned so much from his videos. Cheers to a happy new year and gorgeous hair for everyone! 🎉💇♀✨

I hope you notified the salon on what happened to you. At the very least they should give you a refund.
@AyaneBKing11 ай бұрын
@@NeversurrenderMM66 Thank you for your reply ☺ No, stupid me didn't say anything. When the hair was done, it looked like mushy noodles, and as he combed them in their wet state, they just fell out. When he blow-dried them, he parted my hair in a completely different way- I shifted the part to the other side, and there they were, not even an inch. I just went 'aha, okay.' He had tried to hide it from me. He then took the other part again, grabbed the scissors, cut into them, blending the remaining lengths to create a 'transition,' even though I had said I didn't want layers. He was so quick with the scissors that I couldn't even react. I knew arguing wouldn't help because the boss was also in the salon, and he had seen my hair coloring process: the timer was set for 1 hour, and after an hour, the boss glanced at the hair at the back, and left it for another 30 min.No one looked at the hair at the front just once (it was in foils).
@AyaneBKing11 ай бұрын
@@NeversurrenderMM66 So, first, I'm a shy person and don't like to argue, so I couldn't manage to say anything. On the other hand, I knew the boss himself had no clue, so it wouldn't have made sense. I must say, at the salon, my brain shut off because I wanted to relax, thinking I was with a professional. At home I would have started in the back, and then always checking the front. If others can learn from this, it would be great though. One should always express their concern. Watch what the hairdresser is doing and talk to them about it. Don't assume they know what they're doing just because it's a salon. I know there are many great hairdressers, but unfortunately, there are also many bad ones 😐 sorry for the long text and the bad English 🤐😝

Managed to keep up my daughter's split dye (black and raspberry) for a year and doing her roots for her every 4 weeks with 20 volume and very careful sections, starting at the back of the head. Her hair processes really fast to pale yellow so we kept an eye on the front sections and once they were done we washed off the bleach. Our hairdresser said I did a good job as her hair wasn't damaged at all. So yes you can bleach your hair at home and not ruin your hair if you do it the right way. I think I missed my calling as a hairdresser. 😂
@mumofcuties587311 ай бұрын
Same here lol. Definitely missed my calling. My daughter wanted to go to blonde, I did it myself, allowing breaks in between the bleaching process. Only had to rebleach a few sections. She now has beautiful, toned blonde hair. People ask where I got her hair done and are surprised when I say I did it.
@laurawurst873111 ай бұрын
Same here!! I did the holographic rainbow on my daughters money pieces and it turned out way better than I expected. Now her bottom layer is bleached/colored. I make her go to the color next on the color wheel and make sure it fades good before I re color. For Halloween I did green to red with a bleach bath. It was the first time I bleached the color out. Thankfully her hair was ok after. After trial and error on my own hair, I’ve become quite good!

Every time I see bleach fails (my favourite), I thank my lucky stars that I wear wigs! A good synthetic rooted blonde wig lasts a lot longer, no frizz, so light and cool, easy to maintain- instant glamour in 30 seconds, rather than 5 hours to a salon! I've had enough bleach fails over the years, but lucky I managed to rescue it each time, but never again! Thanks for all the uploads- I check daily for new videos! I love my hubby but he is never touching my hair again. I had blond hairstrands during the pandemic and asked him if he could touch up the roots a little. Just a few strands so it wouldn't be that noticable. He said yes. So he went to work and in the middle of it he forgot what he was supposed to do (his words), and just put bleach everywhere. It was sooooo bad, and I confess there were tears. It was entirely my fault. He is no hairstylist and the whole idea was just really stupid. Thinking back I don't know what was going on in my head😂..

It's, unfortunately, the dyeing that I have to contend with and have been hit or miss with it - but going to the salon to deal with it adds up in cost.

When I was young using box hair color and wanted to achieve a lighter shade, I would go down 2 shades. If I liked it I would keep it for a while and if I went lighter again 2 shades down until I achieved the color I really liked. No one taught me this, they are chemicals if it’s going to damage your hair it’s going do damage your scalp. Just common sense it’s science. If I wanted to go back to my original color I would reverse the process with 2 shades up and I between colors I would do a hot oil treatment. When wanted a complete change I leave to the professionals. This can be dangerous if you do not know what you are doing.

I showed hubby what to do and he put the perming rollers in the back for me . Anyway it was a complete and utter disaster , straight fuzzy hair with bits sticking out everywhere 😱. Discovered that if hubby could not fit a section of hair into the perm rollers he solved the problem by cutting it off ‼️. How it never ended in divorce I’ll never know 🤦🏻♀️😂‼️
