I do "eco"since 40 years! why? because not enough money, not either to buy a house, a car, an "electric bike"and all that stuff! I get tired of people giving lessons to others, feeling so at the top for doing good . What you don't realise is when you are making a soap, candle or whatever, it is maybe better for nature but more expensive. I know, I calculated. Eco has become the new bourgeoisie... and since it began we see landscapes completely destroyed by windmills which can't keep a reserve of energie and collapse after 15 years if lucky. And when you see the mortar, metal used in it, it's not eco. Eco is just a new way of making money for a happy few. The elite goes for the permacrisis (I did'nt invent the word, they did). And who suffers from it?

Rainwater collection is helpful, if you live in an area where you can do that. My husband found a 55 gallon barrel that was not being used, and we turned it into a water collector. It saves us lots of money when we water our garden, too!

My house uses solar power. Bath water may be reused for laundry. When it comes to clothes, I buy simple designs that can be used for a long time instead of buying trendy ones. The same goes for shoes and bag accessories. I make my favorite vegetables at home as much as possible. Organic and pesticide-free. Flowers and colored leaves can be increased without throwing them away, or seeds can be collected and grown. When I buy items that I don't use, I buy materials that can be used for a long time. I love plants and want to keep the air clean.

This topic is very dear to my soul. Living an eco-friendly life is more beneficial for us than we realize. A useful tip is to bring a foldable crate to the grocery store. I tend to forget bringing enough reusable bags so the crate is just perfect. Summer is the perfect time to use the free sun to hang dry our laundry. Thanks again for such an inspiring video! I’ve been making my own cleaning products, and I’m looking forward to the soap making one. 💚

I totally agree with you and I've been trying to live like this for more than 20 years. As you say, even if we don't do it perfectly, whatever we do, small or big, to help our planet is important. Reducing the use of medecines is important too. We can do it by growing medecinal plants like thyme, mint, rosemary, sage etc... even on a window sill. Thank you for this beautiful video.

Apart from what you mentioned, even small things like keeping a tote/jute bag with us instead of buying a shopping bag every time (Fact: manufacturing a paper bag takes about four times as much energy as it takes to produce a plastic bag) goes a long way in doing our bit! Buying wisely, and not contributing to the fast fashion trend which just ends up in landfills.

Here in NZ we banned single use plastic bags for carrying groceries (can't remember how many years ago now). I'd never go back! Now we have strong sturdy options avaliable in all different kinds of materials for purchase. Or if you forget your bag, they have stacks of boxes the products came from, for you to use and take away for free :)

I love your sustainability thoughts. We are in our 60’s and have built raised beds to grow our own food, planted fig, apple and plum trees, and started a cutting flower garden too. I am a volunteer master composter, teaching folk how to reduce waste and landfill, and wha5 makes good compost. We have just cleared over 30 bags of clothes, books and gave unwanted gifts to charity over the past 3wks, and have more to go. We have bought free range eggs for over 25 years, we use our slow cooker and pressure cooker to reduce energy, as much quicker and more energy efficient. We both work from home these days, and are just look8n* at going down to one car. I sew, batch cook, make soups with my fridge contents at the end of the week, use cardboard in the garden as weed killers. I would love to know if you also speak English. Thank you for your lovely inspiring blogs.

I use single use tea bags two to three times. I don’t mind my tea a little weak. I save the small ends of soap bars and then mash several ends together to make a bigger bar. I save all the vegetable peels and ends in a freezer bag in my freezer. When the bag gets close to full I make vegetable broth for soup.
@lialicious10002 жыл бұрын
You can put the small end of a soap for a minute in water and then stick on the next bar, it will stay together and you don't have to collect a few. This way we use 100% of every soap

This is such wonderful information. The reselling of home goods at local flea markets, making cleaners and repurposing are wonderful ideas. It also connects people. We have long winters in USA upper midwest. I have a project in mind to make insulating roll up window blinds for the coldest months. I have two faded quilts from our vacation rental that would be perfect to use as batting which is so expensive now. Actually even the quilt patterns would work with our decor so I might not have to even cover them with a plain fabric. We lost power last winter and keeping our windows covered really helped keep us warmer. 😉 my husband has two very large heavy duty pallets left from a recent building project. Rather than burn them which would be such a waste, he is making a table (to save his back) for his small very heavy electric log splitter he uses to make our kindling and a second level table to drop the cut kindling into.

Thank you for sharing your take on being environmentally friendly. I am very inspired by your edible garden. It's something that's been on my to do list for a while now. Another way to be environmentally friendly is to find a substitute for almond milk as a plant based milk alternative, if possible. The amount of water and pesticides used is not good for the environment. Look forward to more videos from you. Have a blessed week!

It's so nice to see someone who is also reducing their environmental footprint as much as possible by repairing and reusing items, eating a more plant-based diet, The two things I'm struggling with the most are growing my own food (I live in an apartment with a covered balcony that faces west not south so the afternoon sun scorches the plants), and making my own soap. I can't wait to see your vlog on making soaps and cosmetics because honestly using lye scares me.

Living conservatively has been a priority for me this year with the rise in utility bills and grocery store items. I keep ceiling fans on high and A/C up higher than I used to, and dress with less clothes when home. Blinds are kept shut to keep the sun out. Different lifestyles have their own requirements. Changing our focus, looking for ways to conserve is always there if we just pay attention to what things drain energy...like not using your stove or oven during the hottest time of the day. Then of course, when winter comes, flip it and center your activities around the times of day that will benefit most as we continue in conservative lifestyle. Thank you for sharing your ideas. 😇🥰😍
