HERA SYNDULLA in Return of the Jedi

Ever since the Forces of Destiny series confirmed Hera Syndulla took part in the Battle of Endor. This is a reimagining, focused primarily on her, of what it could've looked like totally from her own perspective during the whole campaign. I used a variety of different scenes from Ahsoka and Return of the Jedi, mixing them together to bring you this short.

My friend, I am a huge Rebels fan. It literally saved my life when my wife suddenly died and I was on the verge of unaliving myself. Since then, I've absolutely adored seeing the surviving Rebels characters integrated into existing canon (Chopper in "Rogue One", Zeb in "The Mandalorian", etc.). This is a magnificent piece of work. Thank you so much! I hope to see more.

I lost my first wife to cancer back in 2006, and it absolutely broke me in ways I didn't know I could be broken. It took me YEARS to adjust to my "new normal", and if you ever need to talk to someone who actually understands what it's like to lose their spouse, do not hesitate to e-mail me. Yes, I have since remarried, but there is a story there. You see, before my first wife (her name was Rose) died, she had promised to "send [me] someone when the time was right, so that [I] wouldn't be alone for the rest of [my] life". She loved me that much, and after a few years of living the nightmare of having lost the most important person in my life... someone that I had known in my youth walked back in. We weren't romantically involved decades ago, but something had changed. One night, Rose came to me in a dream (I know the difference between a 'dream' and a 'visit') and confirmed that this was the woman she had sent to me. We have been together ever since, and while I am still "kinda broken" in some ways, she puts up with me. I suspect that Rose knew this before she sent her. I'm glad you didn't "unalive" yourself, and God knows that I came very close to doing that, myself after I had lost Rose. It could even be argued that I attempted it a few times... but it wasn't intentional. I just "didn't care if I lived or died" at that point. If I lived, there was pain, but if I died, I'd be reunited with Rose. That was my thought process at the time. I am so sorry for your loss, but I fully understand how you feel. I dearly hope that you find peace.

These are the sorts of edits I would accept in the OT, adding the Ghost in the background of the Battle of Endor sort of thing, something that doesn’t alter the events or the context and just expands the world.

While you did amazing work, you can tell her scenes were spliced in by how the shots were composed. In the original trilogy the in ship shot are much closer on the actors. If you zoomed In on her a bit so she fills the screen it would feel more authentic to how ROTJ was filmed.

I'd assume the mechanics are the same as the falcon with the auto pilot settings, plus, the rebels were leading the assault based only on the coordinates they had.

Showing her fighting for Endor obeying and respecting her superiors is more justice than showing her desobeying every order, getting three pilots killed, bringing her kid in danger, suggesting to disarm a bomb in a hospital, pointing to everyone that she is a general and getting out of jail because of nepotism.

I honestly think it’d make the OT better and even the prequels if they added a few things from the shows it the background like interdictors and light cruisers at endor. Doesn’t have to be over the top just stuff in the background like death troopers on the death star in the background to make the whole universe feel more fluid so it doesn’t feel like stuff shows up in between movies and then disappears. Rogue one did it really well with the ghost and chopper making cameos

When you really think about it, why would Lando have been in command of the Republic starfighter force in this battle instead of Hera? Lando clearly had administrative and strategic skills that made it appropriate for him to be a general in the Rebel Alliance navy, but Hera was almost certainly a better pilot and had much more experience leading rebel starfighters in battle by that time.
