This is awesome. Can’t wait to watch the rest. I Quoted your line “And if you think about it, the best thing I did this game was pick the perfect strategy” - guess…. Pooplord (💩) or Hera? (👼) …..for a bit of a laugh. Having also made a second account I found my first 10 games were easy because it doesn’t match make you properly. You might be 1200, but the opponents could be way lower. I’d suggest throwing a bunch of games until you have ten games on the account and it should start matching you up better. That guy didn’t play like a 1200something and you were double his score. Advice is cheap and you are in the conversation for goat… I am but a humble Memer punching above my actual weight 🤪

For those who still wonder what could you have tried to counter. You shouldn't let your oppenent get to castle and imperial so easily, harrass with counter attacks with the correct units as Hera said. A Boom will not always be a good answer against early raids if you know the enemy have a strong civ unit in castle and imp. Gl and gg

Choosing rams (rather than trebs) when using melee units, so rams soak arrow fire and units can dive is a good tip, I have not considered that.

we all know but in case u dont: the farm upgrades gives u extra food for each farm. The farm gets the bonus on completion so if you start a farm 4-5 seconds after you click horse collar or heavy plow, the farm will be built after the upgrade finishes and get the extra food, so dont wait for the upgrade to be over . Is this what 1.1k - 1.2k elo looks like? Or is it the lower end of it? I just started ranked a few days back but got way tougher opponents than this, so I lost motive to continue playing it. But this one looks beatable all things considered.

Anyone on a bad day can look lower than their elo and Hera probably had more APM & better economy than a 1.2k elo. Try playing Quick Games and rewatch them, you'll see 1k-1.3k are not as pro as some people may think.

If you just started playing ranked without much online experience, your elo will be 3 digits to begin with. An 1100 player will completely annihilate an 800 player. The first 10 games are going to be rough as the game doesn't know what your elo is and tries to place you appropriately.

This guy's Elo was 1027 when he started this game. I was also a bit confused as I'm 1100-1200 and usually my opponents at least attack at some point!

noob elo is until 1100. 1100-1200 is not a noob and has some knowledge via video like this. I(1100-1200 elo) also seem that that opponent is not like a 1100- elo (like who I play against).

Much of the video was very specific to this particular situation - the map, the civilizations, the units. The general advice was thinly spread out - walling, placing TCs, spending wood, fixing eco.

I am a 11xx elo player. I saw how you easily beat that level player. But when I play, it was so difficult. I think the main reason is how you swiftly switch between different scenes of the map right at the moment it needs and keep production non-stop. I noticed that there is a rhytum u stop looking at your army and look back home. And its not simply randomly look back home but you clearly know where u want to check. U every move is more efficient that makes u better than the 11xx player. Even with similar APM. Usually when my army engage, I hv to fully focus on that and missing econ or production or any raid at my home. Then I switch back to home. Then when I turn back to my army, often couldnt locate it (army group scattered and cannot be directly located) or found it in bad situation. I know numbering my army. But seems that s not enough. Any tips?

I think the 1100 player, same as me, knows how unit counter and basic distribution of villagers on econ. But obviously what we lack is the control of various part across the map. I noticed that the player's scout rushed to your army several times. Clearly he didnt responds quick enough when army engage.

Use control group hot key like Ctrl+ 1 , so everytime you want to go to your army press 1. Use the hot key to" move to your building" so with that you can move back and forth fast with both eco and army.

If I want immediately reinforcement for one big push, I use the key to select all military buildings and Q, if I want to raid I select couple buildings and I'll put ctrl+alt+1 and use alt +1 to set rally point for them then Q units. So my main army will be in the front and couple raid unit will go to the corner or something.

@@iliasalice6322 I see, a nice strategy. For me, I set F1 for all stable, F2 for all milita, F3 for alll range. So everytime all the military buildings can build army no matter how scattered. Kind of difficult for me to set group for each buildings.

I find this common across all YT channels for AOE2, but I'm ~950ELO after 1,050 1v1 random maps, and my games look nothing like this. Opponents play much more agg and the few defensive players need to be rushed constantly or they'll easily outboom you

I think they do play like this, it's just guys like Hera who make their tutorial find this pressure very easy to absorb. It's understandable really and not their fault, there's only so much a pro level player can tone it down. Some aspects of the game come automatically to them that don't to us and those details make it look easier than it is. I know I can't play like this, but I watch because hearing the logic behind the decisions still helps to improve.

Once the resources are gone from the map, that’s it. Learning to switch to a different gold unit that your opponent isn’t countering at the right time is a big part in how to win games. Knowing your opponents civ weaknesses will greatly help you in deciding what plan you should take

But today I will be your hater on this video. 1100 players don't play like this opponent. he didn't do anything at all. with a real player, you would have had a drush ​​at the base before you clicked up.
