You could totally rock something like that in the West Coast. We’re so much more relaxed when dressing (I grew up in Argentina and had a learning curve on how to dress down. I used to dress very European and now I keep some of the elegance but I also wear Birkenstocks and such)

Funny, as someone who lives in japan, i was actually thinking this would be more accepted in the west. In tokyo, you would be stared at if you wore this casually, unless you are a worker who works under the sun 24/7. This may pass in the countryside but in the city, I have never seen anyone wearing this casually in my years of stay here.

I’m interested in hearing more about the AC situation! Do people have air conditioning in their homes, work, restaurants, schools etc? Is it more commonly central or a wall unit? Do people there use fans while sleeping (some cultures hate this, I’ve recently learned!) You could probably do a whole video on AC and fans!!

Summer in Japan is killer🥵 Especially this year, we went from the end of monsoon season directly into 30°C weather. I can’t go anywhere without my UV umbrella and the pink Bioré cooling body wipes. If you get the chance, I highly recommend the Shirokuma kakigori. They are popular in Saitama. It’s extra fluffy and soft😋🍧

The cooling face masks look really wonderful! I live in NYC (which feels like an oven in the summer) and i personally choose to still wear my mask in public spaces and we have been having crazy heat waves. My face is dripping sweat every time i go out. Id be super curious about a cooling face mask and how that works. I wonder if any of the asian grocery stores and beauty supply places sell it here? 🤔

I'm a Canadian who has been working in Japan for 6 years. Believe me, it's gotten worse since 2017. Last year (2022), we had 32°-42°C plus 75%-98% humidity for more than 2 months!! Even my Japanese coworkers were dying of heat and as my Japanese friends would say "Japanese are surviving during summer. There nothing else we can do." 😆

Wow! Astounding. I’m kind of having a hard time relating although I have experienced heat… Right now here in Germany it’s partly clouded and with a breeze and a high of 22°C today, right now it’s 21. So very comfortable. I actually have long pants and fuzzy socks on here inside. Inside my apartment, in an older house with stone walls, it stays comfortable or even cool most of the time except for when it’s really hot for an extended period of time. Which we haven’t had hardly this year at all yet. And even then, the sun shines in one side of my apartment at a time so the other side is usually more comfortable. And I have a question. Are there any there who say drink tea instead of really cold things when it’s so hot? I have heard that it’s actually confusing for the body, if we get really cold stuff it thinks it needs to heat up whereas if we give it room temperature or slightly warmer things, then it will be hydrated and in a cooling mode or something, not sure.
