Extremely rare introduction clip taken from the 1968 show "The Beat of the Brass". Track is from the 1966 "SRO" album. Enjoy.
P.S. I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to see Herb and Lani play at Blues Alley in Georgetown Washington DC 12 May 2008. The show was absolutely spectacular. After all these years, they both still have it: the skills and the love. Truly a remarkable show. Herb and Lani, thanks to all of the wonderful years of warming our hearts with your great art work. You both are truly blessed as well as I was at your show.

I was really fortunate in having a cornet, trumpet and flugelhorn made in that factory before they shut down in 79. Best horns ever made. Bach and Selmer bought all their equipment

I'm glad I still have all my TJB albums. They sounded great then , and listening to them now, not only do they sound great, but they evoke so many memories and images. Herb Alpert was an absolute genius. His songs, his arrangements were Top Notch, and no one can close to him as a performer and as a musician.

Some younger people think that music videos didn't exist in the 1960s. Never saw this before, this is awesome and to one of my favorite Brass songs.

... And in living black-and-white, for those of us who don't have color sets! In 1967 we had black-and-white, and not until the 1970's when color tubes weren't round anymore did we go color. Now 40 years later, the broadcast medium has jumped to great new heights while the content has, in many ways gone the other way. I had to go out and buy this MP3 from the SRO album after hearing this neat video!

The first time that I have seen this video since it aired on television circa 1968?....it explains why whenever I hear the Work Song, I always think of a factory....now I know why! The Herb and the TJB television specials are so deeply imprinted in my memories. thank you again for posting another gem. Joe in NH.

Wow, gooch. . . you were lucky indeed. Lani has one of the most memorable voice in the world, and, as Miles Davis once said, "three notes and you know it's Herb Alpert!"

This was a very clever video for the introduction. The TJB were very popular then and the producers could afford all this. Thanks so much for posting this great old video. I still treasure my old TJB albums.

My trombone was made in this factory in 68'. Who knows, it may have even been in the video. great horn. I was sorry to see them go. Getting a good Olds now costs a lot more.

Actually, they switch from a brass instrument factory to a print shop. I have always liked this album cover. I would rate it second after the Whipped Cream cover.

This is also the first time I've seen this since it was broadcast on TV. Remember the show when Herb visited a very decrepit Ellis Island? Would you have that one also. That's another one forever burned into my memory. Please keep these coming! Thanks!

When I ws a little kid, my brother was student director in the high school band and lead trumpet. I would play this and pretend to be playing it. This was in the late 60's or early 70's. Loved it! Only song title I can remember from that time!

not Cannonball, his brother Nat wrote this. It was an instrumental. later on Oscar Brown added words, as you are citing. Check out Eric Burdon's amazing version. Also check out Nat Adderly's great songbook on KZbin.
