I tested making chicken bone broth with veggies thrown in at the end for flavor and such. Half of the carrots i used, i peeled and, half I didnt. The carrots with the peels retained significantly more flavor and sweetness after cooking whereas the ones i peeled had none. Just a thought...maybe peeling helps? 🤔

Be careful with nettles - if your skin is allergic/sensitive to it, so will be your insides!

So it’s safe to store outside the fridge?

I made up some last night using a blender(like a smoothie), hoping it would break the particle size down smaller to have it ready sooner. Starting to think maybe that was a bad idea?

Look's good !....but i'd be more interested in what I could do with the mixture after the cider is made - I got some idea's like a tablespoon in chili or meatloaf....but what do you think ?????.....

Dr William Davis-'The Wheat Belly' says we do not want to absorb the turmeric. We want it to travel thru our intestines because it helps heal the mucosal lining so therefore we do not want the pepper. Just learning this so not entirely sure.

What is your take on using Roasted Garlic instead of raw garlic?
@paulettesalisbury42903 жыл бұрын
roasting the garlic destroys the allicin that gives garlic some of its healing properties.

Ah okay thank you. I did not realize that.

I've seen alot of different videos om this. I'm wondering do you need to store it in amber jars for long term storage? Do they keep more of the good things with using an amber jar? Or does it really not matter?
@virginiavoigt24183 жыл бұрын
I'm no expert on this, but my general knowledge tells me it's OK to store it in a clear jar, but then I'd put it in a dark cabinet or closet.

Light does destroy certain compounds so it would be rational to assume at least some of the components (Even if they were just molecules which impart flavor or color) could degrade over time with exposure to heat or light. Light (from the sun) will also cause heating which we know can increase spoilage of any organics. So I would tend to agree that amber, green, or even opaque containers kept in a cool spot would prolong any herbal or organic non-pasteurized product.

You should store fire cider in a cool, dark pantry, and using amber jars is a great option to help extend shelf life if you have them. :)
