- Herbert W. Armstrong's religion is eclectic and borrows from various sources, making it difficult to classify due to its eclectic nature, borrowing from a variety of sources such as The Seventh-Day Adventists, Dawn Bible students, British Israelites, Mormons, and other groups. Despite having a few advisors, including one with a Doctorate in Greek, Armstrong continues to propagate errors in his teachings, some of which date back to the 1930s. His organization, the Radio Church of God, has a worldwide reach and continues to grow, with branch headquarters in various countries and a well-organized structure with a great deal of money.
Mr. Armstrong's dogmatic doctrine and how he had foretold the prophecy of wolves coming in sheep's clothing to deceive the world. The speaker claims that for 18 and a half centuries, the gospel was not preached until Herbert and Garner Ted came along to restore it. This claim is similar to what other cultists have made in the past, and it is important to be aware of their basis for theology.
A cartographer indicated that God was Lord of the sea, not the beasts or demons that might be in it. Those in the ministry have a responsibility to speak the truth in love and warn against false prophets, standing against the forces of darkness. Mr. Armstrong's theology states that, after the resurrection, we shall be born of God and become God ourselves. This view contradicts the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, limits God to three persons, and is not supported by the Bible.
- According to the theology of Mr Armstrong, people go through a lifelong gestation period, die and are born again at the resurrection, which is the new birth. However, the Apostle Peter's writings suggest that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their savior is already born again.
The transcript discusses Mr Armstrong's teachings about the resurrection and new birth, as well as his denial of the Trinity and belief that humans can become God. However, the Apostle Peter's writing in 1 Peter 1:23 states that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ is already born again through faith and part of the body of Christ. The transcript also touches upon the Holy Spirit's personhood, as demonstrated in Acts chapter 13, and critiques Mr Armstrong's theology on the topic.
According to the Bible, there are at least two and most probably three unforgivable sins. Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is one of them, and it is considered an eternal sin. Mr. Armstrong rejects this notion, among other key Christian beliefs, such as the Trinity, bodily resurrection, and the new birth.
Mr Armstrong's teaching is a denial of historic Christianity for 18 and a half centuries, and is a philosophy of antichrist. Christians should be careful not to import heresy into their homes and jeopardize their souls by subscribing to false teachings.
- The blood of Christ does not finally save any man.
The writer of Hebrews says that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. The Seventh-Day Adventist used to teach this in the 1880s, but they repudiated it when it was pointed out that it was unbiblical. Herbert Armstrong, however, kept right on in the same old era, and that's why the Seventh-day Adventist today repudiates him. He denies even what good things he got out of Seventh-Day Adventism and hung on to the bad things that the Adventists had sense enough to get rid of themselves. Mr Armstrong does not believe in salvation by grace alone, he says that nobody is now saved, and he contradicts Mr Armstrong repeatedly. Mr Armstrong is a soul sleeper, he believes that when you die your soul goes into a state of unconsciousness until a resurrection, but this is not biblical theology.
- Salvation is a gift of God by grace through faith, not earned by works.

The kingdom of God is not about these things, but about righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. Christians should worship and adore Jesus Christ, not hang onto the shadows of the past.

I was in WWCG for 30 years, and we never kept the Sabbath-only thought we did. Same with the Feast of Tabernacle’s. Never got close to observing these days/Festivals as described in the Word.

Herbert W. Armstrong is NOT borrowing from various sources. He just SAW these various things in the Bible that others saw such as Adventists, British Israelites, Mormons, etc. He did not believe in most of the other ideas of their beliefs. That's like saying if a Baptist believes in baptizing by immersion they got the idea from a Jehovah's Witness or some other group that believed the same. Utter nonsense! There are now THOUSANDS of denominations and groups with HUNDREDS of varying opinions and theology concerning the Bible. As Garner Ted said many times, they can't ALL be right, obviously! COULD THEY ALL BE WRONG? They pretty much WERE when Jesus came!!

There's merit to what you're saying because ALL of these denominations are drawing from the same source. So it's completely reasonable many of them would come to the same conclusion. However there IS a lot of cross pollination between the various Theologies. I'm not sure why you think you can deny that........

New Covenant Whole Gospel: Who is now the King of Israel in John 1:49? Is the King of Israel now the Head of the Church, and are we His Body? Why did God allow the Romans to destroy the Old Covenant temple and the Old Covenant city, about 40 years after His Son fulfilled the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34 in blood at Calvary? What the modern Church needs is a New Covenant Revival (Heb. 9:10) in which members of various denominations are willing to re-examine everything they believe and see if it agrees with the Bible, instead of the traditions of men. We need to be like the Bereans. It will be a battle between our flesh and the Holy Spirit. It will not be easy. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him. He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth. Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD: Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? What did Paul say about Genesis 12:3 in Galatians 3:8, 3:16? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis? Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart. Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36) We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. Mar 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. How funny is this! This guy is focused on the man Mr. Armstrong. But nothing on what he actually taught! I don't need to be a Greek or Hebrew scholar to prove the truth. The holy days are binding. The law is binding an the lost 10 tribes of Israel or extremely important to understand the plan of God. Mr. Armstrong in the end will prevail, no matter what guys thinks. No one has ever said that Mr. Armstrong was perfect, but he sure worked his tail off to preach the gospel of the soon coming kingdom of God.

I disagree that the holy days are binding. They were established for a particular people at a particular time. I've had these conversations with Church of God types. You can't explain why parts of the mosaic law MUST still be practiced but then others, It's perfectly okay to ignore them. It's quite the hole in your theology.

If we be under Christ, the Law is of none effect to us for we are dead onto the Law through Christ Jesus. Thus, for those redeemed by Christ's precious blood they are no longer bound to the Law no matter if they be Jewish or Gentile. Christ Jesus fulfilled the Law for us because we could never keep nor meet all of the Law perfectly. Once any Law was broken, once we have sinned, we are condemned by the Law. The Law wasn't given to save but to show that one is in need of justification. Without Christ the Law is incomplete for only Christ Jesus has fulfilled all the Law, thus only by Him can we be saved, not by any other. Read Acts chapter 15. Read Romans, Galatians, and Hebrews. They all deal with this. The teaching of the lost ten tribes is not Biblical. God still has a purpose and a plan for all of Isreal, including each tribe. Remember, Isreal and the Church are not the same. Confusion about the so-called lost tribes come from 2nd Chronicles 11. Let's look at some verses from that chapter. (Please do read it in its entirely as well.) But first, here is some background. King Solomon has died. Due to King Solomon's apostasy and idolatry God declared through the prophet Ahijah that He will divide Solomon's kingdom and take the unified kingdom out of Solomon's son's hand, i.e. Rehoboam, afflicting the seed of David for a short time. (Note it was only for a portion of time, not forever.) God has Ahijah approach Jeroboam, and inform him of God's decision over the kingdom of Isreal and His personal offer to Jeroboam. God offers Jeroboam a conditional blessing of an offer: that IF he will hear and do what God commands him, and IF he will walk in God's ways, and IF he will do right in the sight of the Lord, and IF he will keep God's statutes and commandments; that God would be with him, establish a sure house, and give him authority to rule ten of the tribes (i.e. the majority of Isreal). (See 2nd Kings 11 for the declaration and the forewarning to Jeroboam of the conditional blessing.) Due to unrest and disquiet from the newly crowned Rehoboam's harsh verdict, the northern tribes seek out Jeroboam. The Kingdom of Isreal divides itself: ten tribes in the northern area, while two tribes are in the southern area. Like it was prophesied before Solomon's death, Jeroboam is now over the ten tribes. However, Jeroboam does not keep his side of the deal. He did not do what God commanded him. He did not walk in God's ways. He did not do good in the sight of the Lord. And, he did not keep God's commandments. In fact, he set up idols at the distant ends of his domain and declared them to be their god, that they-bovine idols-had been the ones to bring them out of Egypt. This went against God's commandments, and caused the people to sin. (In other words, Jeroboam messed up big time!) "And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities for defence in Judah." (2nd Chronicles 11:5) For clarification, Rehoboam is the king of the Southern Kingdom (aka Kingdom of Judah) while Jeroboam is the ruler over the Northern Kingdom (aka Kingdom of Isreal/Samaria). "And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel resorted [i.e. turn to] to him [i.e. Rehoboam] out of all their coasts [i.e. both southern and northern areas]. For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them [i.e. the Levites] off from executing the priest's office unto the LORD: And he [i.e. Jeroboam] ordained him priests for the high places, and for the devils, and for the calves which he had made. And after them [i.e. the Levites] out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the LORD God of their fathers. So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years: for three years they walked in the way of David and Solomon." (2nd Chronicles 11:13-17) The Levites and those that were faithful to God from all the tribes went south, while those not faithful to God went north or stayed in the north. Since Jeroboam erred so drastically and did not keep the conditions set forth from God, he forfeited the blessings offered to him. Therefore, he ruled the northern territory and a portion of the tribes, but not the entirely of the ten tribes. The tribes dispersed across the land, in other words. Thus, when roughly 200 some odd years later, when the Northern Kingdom falls under Assyria, there are remnants of all the tribes in the Southern Kingdom. None were lost. To claim otherwise is an affront to God because it alludes to calling Him butterfingers. In the New Testament there are several places where it says the twelve tribes of Israel. The Holy Ghost put it there in advance to refute the myth of the lost ten tribes. In Acts Paul declares: "And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers: Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews." (Acts 26:6-7) Jesus said in Matthew 19:28: "And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel." James opened his epistle to the Christian Hebrews with: "James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting." (James 1:1) Being scattered is not the same as being lost. In the Gospel of Luke, 2:36, there's a prophetess out of the tribe of Aser: "And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;" showing that Aser wasn't lost. Before that, in the same chapter of Luke, Simeon uttered: "A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel." (Luke 2:32) When Simeon said, "... thy people Isreal" he was speaking of all the tribes of Isreal. God does not lose what is His! Isreal is still His people. Mister Armstrong is dead. He was but a man. He was not perfect. A dead, imperfect man will not prevail but the inerrant Word of God shall prevail and stand firm. Place your trust in the Word of God, not man. Be like the Bereans! "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." Acts 17:11 That means be receptive of information yet search and read the Bible to see if it is true or not. The Word of God is inerrant while men like Armstrong, Martin, you, I, etc are not. If there is contradiction between scripture and sermon, hold fast to the scriptures for it is steadfast and everlasting. Be like the Ephesians who "... hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:" Revelation 2:2. How did they do that? By searching the scriptures and evaluating any apostle's message, witnessing, and gospel preached to them. Scripture supercedes tradition or man-made dogmas and should govern them. It is the final authority.

These scriptures, and several others clearly prove that men will be changed into gods, after the very likeness and image of God, hence why we were made that way from the beginning. The blindness and pseudo exegesis by Walter Martin was and is sickening. Oh yeah, Jesus said this: John 10:33-36 The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.” Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “YOU ARE god’s”? If He called them, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), 36do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? yes you are correct ... although i left the Christian religion 30 years ago i know Herbert W Armstrong was one of the most incisive Biblical scholar...with a depth not one or all Christians put together can plumb or even start to fathom.. of course he was a full human... respect him he established three universities.. all his critics are as poor as rattlesnakes waiting for a skinny rat to pass by...

You are gravely mistaken. Read the Bible. The beliefs of Armstrong and his church are not what Christ, the Apostles, or the Apostle Paul taught. Armstrong's teachings conflict with the Bible. The Ephesians were the very ones that Paul warned in his last meeting with them: "For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them." Acts 20:29-30 Armstrong spoke, wrote, and believed perverse things. I can clearly and boldly declare that they are perverse for they differ from the Word of God. He was one of the false apostles for he perverted the True Gospel by preaching another gospel. Paul in his epistle to the Galatians wrote: "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." Galatians 1:6-8 Armstrong is thus accursed for he presented another gospel. But, please don't take my word for it, actually search the scriptures and evaluate Armstrong and his church it under what the Word of God says. H.W. Armstrong always quoted the Bible to prove doctrine and prophecy direct from the Holy Scriptures, in context of the passages. Other ministers quote parts of scriptures, sometimes. Careful to avoid quoting in context. True Church history is found in Acts, John's gospel, 1st, 2nd and 3rd John. And to degree in Paul's writings. One cannot disprove Mr. HWA's teachings, for they are ALL according to scripture. Revelation 12:9 Satan has deceived the WHOLE WORLD".

Lol, no I'm not crazy.... I'm just biblically literate. And I have some knowledge of accurate church history . I study and research just as the Bible commands us to do, and I don't listen to preachers who teach contrary to the Holy scriptures. @DPR567.13

Walter Martins logic is always circular. I've read Kingdom of the cults, it's the same there..... He calls religions that are not his false prophets and the metric he uses to determine that are HIS OWN doctrines! Aka: you're wrong because you don't believe what I believe.

Correct! Just because he has a particular view on the Trinity, Baptism, Eternal Security, Presdestination, whether one sleeps or is awake at death, he ASSUMES any other view is incorrect! But this is the PROBLEM in Christianity in general, because everyone else is doing the same thing. One has to study the Bible and EVERYTHING surrounding it and come to one's OWN conclusion as to the views on these things for himself and just let everybody else alone in THEIR own conclusions!

Flawed reasoning comparing medical doctors and lawyers to preachers and teachers of the Word. There is no example of formal education being a point of validation or a qualifying factor to one being called to teach and preach the Word of God. In fact, the Bible teaches the exact opposite, as Christ was accused being unlearned in the theological community of Israel. Isaiah prophesies exactly how Christ was educated, hence how His prophets are as well, to a lesser degree of course than Christ: Isaiah 50:4 “The Lord GOD has given Me The tongue of the learned, That I should know how to speak A word in season to him who is weary. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear To hear as the learned.”

Well said...... If thier theology was biblically sound, they wouldn't need to ask others for thier qualifications. Scripture is the ONLY qualifier that matters. The idea that a disciple of Christ is ONLY a disciple if he learned his doctrines from a teacher who attended a handful of schools (who don't even teach all the same things) is quite ridiculous.
