Herbie, this is your song, your world and your heart. THANK YOU for sharing it all us. Your playing is some of your best ever. You provide the glue for all the musicians - laying it down at times - sneaking in golden nuggets based on their solos at other times until...........YOUR SOLO. OMG. The world thanks you for making it such a better place through your music.

I have always loved Herbie's music. He is one of the world's greatest, most creative, pianist innovators of our time. Seems like he always manages to keep his sound fresh and exciting and I'm sure there's quite a few people out there scratching their heads, wondering what he is actually doing behind those keys. Some of that is incredibly beautiful but those great sounds are also quite a bit more complicated than meets the eye. The suspense has always been a lot of fun and I'm sure it's keeping some of those other keyboard players on their toes.

Perfection re-perfected. We are blessed indeed to witness. I never knew until doing some research that this composition was apparently originally meant for a Yardley perfume commercial.

Trumpet feels kind of Hubbard-esque. Short solo, but really nice interplay with Herbie too. Double percussion is nice and light. I'd recognize Brian Blade's drum faces anywhere, lol. Ravi is pretty chill and cool too. And all these years later, Herbie still loves these solos with weird pedals and rhythms that blow up the tension so much, and makes everyone adapt in the rhythm section to tie it all together.
@MsMuhanji2 жыл бұрын
I don’t talk musician talk but I am a dedicated fan.what I do recognize how Herbie ties it altogether with his fury of in -the -moment notes . Ah so lovely !!!
@mtaur41132 жыл бұрын
@@MsMuhanji Freddie Hubbard played trumpet on the original record. And "pedal" just means the bottom note is different from the usual root, so it sounds kind of off-balance for a moment. I thought I lost my place a little trying to feel the changes in Herbie's solo, so I figured it was probably that.
