The thing I always liked with the first two Herbie movies is the way they showed the villains defeated in the end. Not in a typical Disney fashion, but rather How-the-Mighty-Have-Fallen kind of fashion. In Hawks' case, he is revealed a coward in front of his men, he is tipped out of his jeep by the one employee who has had it with him, and is finally hauled away by the cops who are convinced he's lost it, likely to be locked away in a mental hospital and his business likely to suffer with so much loss from that venture, especially with Hawk Plaza canceled.

+Herbiefan53 Yes and maybe while in jail he was thinking "I guess if I didn't complain to have that firehouse destroyed, I wouldn't of gotten arrested" or he was probably thinking "maybe I shouldn't of taken it so seriously of wanting to build a shopping mall and just left that firehouse where it is." At the same time, I was glad that Mr. Hawk got arrested by the traffic commissioner and that other cop since I'm sure both of them were tired of worshipping Mr. Hawk since he has a bad temper who can dish it but can't take it.

The three dislikes are Alonzo Hawk, Peter Thorndyke, and Bruno Von Stickle, the three people who hated this little bastard the most. If there was one more, you could say that the fourth dislike would be Inspector Bouchet the crooked inspector who was imprisoned for stealing the diamond which his accomplises stashed in Herbie gas tank.

Actually, the guy's name was David Thorndye. But yes, him and Alonzo Hawk hated Herbie. Also, I'm sure Max, Quincey, Mr. Shepherd, Mr. Prindle, and Mr. Quinn hated Herbie too.

***** Good ole Rubber Faced David Thomlinson. You know, all of the Herbie "Villians" all played their parts so well. All though they were all great, the 2 that stand out to me were Keenan Wynn and David Thomlinson as Alonso Hawk, and Peter Thorndyke respectively.

Yes that's true. Each villain did great on each Herbie movie in their behaviors with Herbie where Peter Thorndyke wanted to steal Herbie for his own once he found out that Herbie was alive like a person on the inside, Alonzo Hawk was more afraid of Herbie, Max and Quincey only wanted Herbie to get that stolen diamond they hid in Herbie's gas tank, and Mr. Shepherd, Mr. Quinn, and Mr. Prindle were only threatening Paco to destroy Herbie if Paco didn't give back the camera film he (Paco) stole. (I know that Keenan Wynn was also as Alonzo Hawk on the Disney movie of "The Absent Minded Professor" and the director of "Herbie Rides Again" wanted him to play as his character of Alonzo Hawk on "Herbie Rides Again.")

However, I'm sure Mrs. Steinmetz married that other guy Mr. Judson next for one thing, he looks like Captain Steinmetz and Mrs. Steinmetz gave Captain Steinmetz fire hat to him as a way of saying that she wishes to marry him which I'm sure might have happened after Willoughby and Nicole got married as seen here. (It only makes me wonder if Willoughby lived and stayed in the firehouse for the rest of his life or if he and Nicole moved back to Missouri together which is Willoughby's home state. In some ways, I hope Mrs. Steinmetz sold away her firehouse and she, Mr. Judson, Willoughby, and Nicole all moved to Missouri together just to get out of that state away from where Mr. Hawk lives even though he got arrested but, it could be scary if he escapes having the police and other prisoners worshipping him just like everyone has been doing throughout the whole movie and then they release him where he makes another attempt to destroy the firehouse).

@@Corvette1658 Actually, Herbie went back to his owner Jim Douglas as seen on the movie "Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo." I think what happened was that Jim's friend Tennessee Steinmetz must have asked if Jim can leave Herbie to take care of his aunt Mrs. Steinmetz and maybe after Mrs. Steinmetz passed away from old age, Herbie was picked up by Jim and then starred in the Monte Carlo race.

I can't figure out if that instrument at 2:50 is supposed to be an orchestrion or a band organ. I remember the Herbie book either called it an orchestrion or a juke box, which is certainly wrong. It does look kind of like an American military band organ... but with art glass and an indoor-style cabinet??? Who cares, it's the '70s... they didn't care, and I'm glad they included it at all.

One of my favorite movies. "The Love Bug" (1969), "Herbie Rides Again," and "Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo" are my favorites of "The Love Bug" series."Herbie Goes Bananas" was awful. "The Love Bug" (1997) wasn't that great, although Dean Jones made a cameo in it as Jim Douglas. "Herbie: Fully Loaded" was okay, but didn't feel up to par with the original 3 movies.
