I've never tried the Blue Devil branded stuff, but I had success with K-Seal head gasket repair on a beater 2003 Hyundai Elantra a couple years back. It had the typical white cloud out the exhaust, the oil looked like a chocolate milkshake, pulled the spark plugs out of it and number 3 was soaked and the gap was completely closed with goo. It was a car I paid 1500 bucks for and used as a winter beater for 7 years, it wasn't worth my time or money to fix it the correct way, I figured I'd give the $30 fix a try before hauling the car in for scrap. I drove it back and forth to work for few days afterwards, put like 75 miles on it and it stopped smoking and the misfire cleared up. I gave the car to my 16 year old nephew, told him it would probably get him around for awhile as he saved up for something nicer, that was 3 years ago and he's still driving the thing... It's survived all the standard issue neglect and complete lack of maintenance that comes along with being a teenage boys first car, so I imagine it'd be fine for most normal functioning adults.

One of best diy/fix-it videos I have ever seen on KZbin by far!!!!!!!!!! I was wondering why he didn't put the thermostat and antifreeze back in until he mentioned that it's probably where he lives. I know in Nevada, they use 30% antifreeze and 70% water. The opposite of the east coast. Because it never gets to freezing temperatures. It's up to 120 degrees during the day in the summer and cools down to 60 degrees at night. I learned this from another member's channel. So I guessing it's pretty hot where he lives. The jokes were pretty funny too without going overboard. Kudos to you brother!!! 👍

I have been using SuperTech synthetic oil for years. It’s great oil. I used the pour and go Blue Devil in my truck because my head gasket leak wasn’t as bad as yours. I had to do a couple idling runs like you did to get it to seal.
@alfredough
@alfredough Жыл бұрын
Worked for 2009 Chevy Equinox. You MUST remove the thermostat! And you must pour the whole bottle directly into the thermostat housing NOT the reservoir. It will work! You must be careful. If it doesn't work the first go at a cold start do it again and again. Took me 3 full cold starts to fully seal the leak! Yes took me nearly 2 days of cold starts for it to work but after the 3rd start the exhaust finally came out clean and the car never overheated again!

After cleaning it out a few times I knew it was the head gasket leaking. Anyway, I flushed the radiator and engine a few times and used a big bottle of Blue Devil per the instructions. I could not believe it. I have not had a problem since, it has been several years now. Thanks Scotty !

question for you.....I am having my mechanic run blue devil next week on my car. I am having to keep refilling my coolant but I see none on the ground. It is leaking into one of the cylinders, the plug was white. Misfire codes are present as well. Now I have no steam coming from the tailpipe at all, and I also have clear oil. Could it be something other than a head gasket?
@denny5564
@denny5564 2 ай бұрын
@@LatrellSprewell15 There is a chemical test kit you can fix to your radiator. If you are leaking between the cylinder and the coolant channel exhaust gas will blow into the coolant. The test kit will show combustion gas in your coolant. Mentioned in the video. You could be leaking oil into the cylinder from the intake valve and leaking valve stem seals. But, since you are dropping coolant level, I would start with the Blue Devil. You may want to do the blue devil trick yourself to save some money as it does take a fair amount of time to flush your radiator and engine a few times and then the time to add the blue devil and all. Your mechanic could charge a couple of hours labor?

Hi Herb- enjoyed your video. I had the same issue with a 93 Toyota Corolla. I don't want to break your heart or spoil your expectations. Blue Devil/Bars Stop Leak/ and other sealers usually last (if you are lucky) around a year. What happens is that your head gasket will simply start leaking in another area. I suggest you use the "Pour n' Go" by Blue Devil after a year if it shows loss or not. Unfortunately, sealers do "not get along" with antifreeze and your problem will resurface at any given time. Sealers are a "Band-Aid" to head gasket repairs but I can see your point in your vehicle where the motor must be removed. As far as my Toyota was concerned, I had a severe head gasket leak and I used the "Bars Block Seal" which required the same procedure as yours did with the sealing. I was able to drive the vehicle for another three years by adding sealers annually before I retired the vehicle at 280 thousand miles.

No I did not. The "pour n go" first, which did not completely rid me of my issue, then the "Bars Block Seal" which required multiple steps and allowing it to dry overnight. The Bars got me through another year, but again, the gasket leaked in a different area and ruined my engine. @@marylamb6063

This Stuff truly works guys. I had a blown head gasket in a 2004 Nissan maxima. I put it in and didn't flush it and thought that it didn't work. I did notice a difference but wasn't sure. Someone posted that this stuff needs a flash point to truly hardened and worked. They also said to for better results to us blue devil flush and use distilled water. After doing this I drove my car a little high than normal hwy speeds and got the motor hot but not crack the heads hot but just a high temperature like water boiling temp. Once i did that and stop and let the car sit and cool. Afterwards OMG did it work and with a rock solid seal. Not everyone will have to do it this way but it worked for me. Flushing the engine first seem to help once i did that and started over.. I have tested it and yess it totally fix. Air conditioner runs with no engine over heating.

I came back here just to make this comment and say Blue Devil works. I'm in southern Ontario, Canada and perhaps estimates will vary depending on geographic location. My check engine light came on and I had a code for a cylinder misfire in cylinder #4. After replacing coil, spark plug and fuel injector the check engine light was still coming on. I took my van to the Ford dealer. I have a 2010 Ford E250 4.6L with 199,000km on the odometer. They confirm it's got a blown head gasket and quoted $6,534.00 to fully repair. I followed the directions for Blue Devil exactly. I bought the Blue Devil radiator flush and followed that also. My van needed 2 bottles of Blue Devil and 2 bottles of their radiator flush based on its capacity and just followed everything. On the second day after completing the process my check engine light went off by itself (did not code clear with the code reader) and its been off ever since. I have since drove the van about 1000kms. It works. So if you have a blown head gasket you should use this and I can only attest to it working if you follow it 100%. But it seems like many people have success with just pouring it and forgetting it.

I had done this back in 2005 to another vehicle and I didn't bother to clear out the system I just poured all of the product in the system, the heat of the engine will burn the water out of the oil, just take it for a bit of a drive, it was still running ok two years later. If it dont work. I sell the van for more than I won it for on bid. I got a deal that I couldnt pass up. Has a brand new transmission with a warranty. Van still work to this day?

Just wondering here. Good video. Except he never told us 2 things and I need clarification. 1. When did he actually put the “thermostat” back in? At what point in the video .. after the 2nd 50 minute idle when he was revving it?? 2. When did he actually top off with REAL RADIATOR fluid instead of the distilled water. Aren’t you supposed to have an approximate 50/50 mix at the (very) end?? I just never saw these 2 steps and for us rookies it would really help if anyone could tell me when to do those 2 things at the end. OR, does he just plan on keeping the thermostat out for the long term Thanks for any clarification on the timing for those last 2 critical steps. Otherwise great saved video for me and thank you in advance for answering those 2 questions

Super tech oil is actually very good oil they tested it with a bunch of other oils on the farm channel I can't remember the whole name of the channel but super tech did very good against the other oils I use it in my vehicles for many years keeps my engine clean runs great.

SuperTech isn't bad stuff, it's made by the same people who make Kirkland Signature, Amazon Basics, and Meijer brand oils (possibly more too.) I believe the manufacturer is Warren Distribution, you should be able to find that on the back of the bottle's label somewhere.

Never use anti seize on spark plugs it changes the torque on it and some of those engines are known to blow the plugs out
