I packed it in my cheek for an abscess. Instant relief and healed in 12 hours. My grandkids know to find plantain if they get a bug bite. 5yr old granddaughter ran around the schoolyard yelling to find plantain when her 7yr old brother got a bee sting. I have 5 budding herbalist and one due today❤ Thanks for sharing🙏

I have a chronic sore on my tongue due to two missing teeth. I chew on 2-3 fresh plantain leaves from my yard and the pain goes away immediately. I use the dried plaintain in the winter for my tongue. I dry the narrow leaf in the shade. Comes out green and fine. What a healing plant! I’m so grateful.

My first love of weeds 😊 When I recommend a 'wild' tea to people for a particular problem, a lot of the time they will say I drank a cup and it didn't do anything or it didn't fix it. I answer by asking if the doctor gave you a prescription or told you to take a supplement would you only take one pill and say it didn't do anything or would you finish the prescription or take a bottle of supplementary vitamins for a few weeks or even months? Natural things are sometimes the same way.

Baby herbalist, former nursing student here. Thank you for sharing this information, I have to laugh as my first experience that drew me into studying herbalism was noticing a burdock and harvesting it to try a tea and Then noticing I had multiple forms of plantain in my yard & garden & started using it for everything, in salad, as a poultice, for poison ivy, for my husband's boils... it's amazing! I now have only 6 books, which I devoured but discovering you on KZbin is exciting and surprisingly emotional. 🥲 Blessings! 🙏

The plantain plant has a very unique look to it, it's hard to mistake when harvesting. I enjoy just looking at the nature of the plant, the broadleaf in particularly. It was my second plant after the beautiful, sunny, delicious dandelion.

Thank you for a great interview, I like Jim's ideas. So great to hear so many of Plantain's gifts. The zinger for me when Jim mentioned Burning Bush! I have a 30 year old one growing in my backyard, never occurred it could also be medicinal.---Now I need to research!

The small holding im on in South africa is covered with Plantain. I cook up a bunch of leaves and add it to a meal. Better than spinach. A chewed leaf mskes a good poultice for infected sores and it stops a wasp sting pain and swelling.

I was grateful cuz I go organic and eat weeds... anyway my brother got a horrible spider bite and went to the er they prescribed antibiotics he couldn't get until the next day... I WAS SOOOO EXCITED I GOÞ TO SHOW THEM ÌM NOT CRAZY... I went in the front yard and got some plantain and crushed it up poultice style and put a bandage over it and he left it overnight and NEVER NEEDED THE ANTIBIOTICS ❤❤❤

I enjoyed this podcast so much! My yard is full of Broadleaf Plantain. It was the first tincture I used and made myself. I take it daily for many issues and have had wonderful success. But I just had to tell you it's my first go to for anything topical, insect bites, cuts scratches, and it works magic on steam burns, immediately takes away pain and leaves no trace of it, unfortunately , I burn my hands with steam quite often and it works everytime. Also on blood blisters, it draws out the blister and takes away the pain. I just soak it in the tincture.. Plantain is amazing! Thank you for sharing!

The first tincture I ever made was plantain. I made it for my (then) teenage son who was experiencing some acne. It's a great herb. I plan to harvest some this summer, process it in a food processor with a dab of water, and freeze it in small containers. I'll probably tincture some as well. There are some herbs that I prefer to freeze instead of dry, and plantain is one of them. (also cilantro, basil, parsley, purslane, cleavers) I love Jim's approach to herbalism and am so glad that you had him on your podcast/YT channel! You're both awesome herbalists.

Thanks for talking about drying the plantain. I found the most beautiful Narrowleaf plantain grown on a Biodynamic farm. I took it home, dried it and it looked just awful. I thought I must've done treated it badly on my way home to cause the browning. I will try your technique of snipping it crosswise before drying and see how that goes. Otherwise, I'm glad to know now that the broadleaf is the better choice for drying in general.

Hi Rosalie, thank you so much. You have such a special way of presenting your knowledge. I am going to purchase your book this morning online. I realize you do not have time to answer everyone’s questions. Should I be fortunate enough, may I ask, do you have any advice for me please, I was vain, foolish enough in my youth, started with Acrylic Nails, to hide one damadged nail. Years later, now 😊, had them removed. I now have paperthin nails, so bad, my nailbed is exposed. Not sure if they will ever grow back. I have listened to numerous herbal videos. Wondered about Comfrey/ Knitbone etc. But not sure how to help myself. If you have any advice it would be greatly appreciated. Still … thank you so much. Take care. 💗

I can learn so much from him because of his personality. When he mentioned about the winged arrow that kills demons, I was like, what? But his way of interpreting this made so much sense. When he said Lyme disease my mind was doing like a thought search: an unwanted parasite that perhaps was in water or food. Or I was thinking Malaria. Then again, I'm nobody and I'm not an herbalist nor do I claim to be on. WOSH, glad I cleared that out. ;-) But yeah, he is pretty awesome and I wish I was financially stabled. I would support you Rosalee and good old Jimmy boy (ooh, just trying to be cut with you Jim.. no disrespect intended). Thank you Rosalee!

I've used plantain in a lot of dental infections, usually along side some combination of echinacea, yarrow, alder (not elder) and perhaps barberry or oregon grape root. Often helpful, but always important to remember that dental infections and get quite serious, and it's important to assess whether any herbal tactic is working. Don't let an infection get bad!

Here are some ways you can find herbs: Hi! Rosalee doesn't sell herbs. Here are some ways you can find plantain and other herbs: 1. Search for herbal apothecaries near you. 2. Visit Rosalee’s listing of herb farms and wildcrafters within the US and Canada to find fresh herbs near you. www.herbalremediesadvice.org/Herb-Farms-Wildcrafters.html 3. Visit Mountain Rose Herbs, an online apothecary that sells high quality organic herbs. They are Rosalee’s first choice for herbs she’s not able to find near her. bit.ly/2KXdWIA All the best, Karin Rose

Can pregnant women take plantain tea
@HerbsWithRosalee
@HerbsWithRosalee 3 ай бұрын
Herbs during pregnancy, nursing, breastfeeding, or chestfeeding are tricky. Many herbalists do not recommend any herbs during the first or second trimester. Others feel that it’s okay under the guidance of an experienced practitioner. Part of the confusion is that for many herbs, we simply don’t know if they are safe or not. Or there can be specific situations where an herb is warranted, or an herb may be okay in the short term, but not the long term. ~Karin Rose

Having flash backs to a childhood full of chewing this plant and slapping it on all manner of bug bites and stings. Then I remember going to a girls camp and the other girls being grossed out that I grabbed some random leaves, chewed it and spat it on her wasp sting, and the group leader lectured me about eating wild plants and I just stared at her like she was an idiot 😂 lost all respect from 12 year old me, the poor woman didnt know a thing about the outdoors.
