Yep, idolizing rich people is so insane. Class consciousness is something that is lost in this society. People think they are close to these millionaires and billionaires, when they are much closer to the homeless person they pass by on the way to work or Starbucks. A lot needs to change before we can really free ourselves from the shackles of the capitalist society we experience today. We have to form real opposition to the Oligarchical path America has been on, the wealth gap has only gotten bigger, quality of life has gone down, and the Elites of our society continue to search for new ways to monetize every aspect of our lives. Electricity, water, housing, internet access, clean air, healthcare and every other aspect of our lives has been and will continue to be restricted in artificial ways to extract more wealth from everyday people. All the while Trump, Elon Musk and his kin will continue to scapegoat minority communities to keep us divided.

As a working class white American with chronic pain, thank you for shedding light on that. My teeth have caused me so much pain and suffering and whenever I try to appeal to my dental care they tell me it’s “not in their budget to help me”. Knowing that this is the case for SO many people, makes it obvious in no uncertain ways why people in this country have such a palpable hatred for medical care. It’s because it’s not medical CARE.

I have such empathy for people with chronic pain problems and dental problems. Dental problems are so insidious, and they not only cause physical pain but psychological pain and embarrassment for people as well. In addition, it saddens me that chronic visual dental problems immediately can mark people as appearing to be “poor” just upon immediate sight, which makes people not want to socialize or smile. It’s truly a way to further separate people into socioeconomic groupings.

Correct, Luigi Mangione is a meme, not a movement. However, powerful and consequential movements can be, and have been built around memes. Memes like Luigi are sparks, and this country is a tinder box. Maybe this spark won't light the fire, but there will be more, and one of them will.

The act itself was never going to. That’s not how anything works. Anyone who believes that hasn’t studied history at all. Revolution never starts so abruptly and from solely individual acts of assassination. Those only really have effect in and of themselves during a full-scale class revolt. What we CAN use it for in a pre-revolutionary moment is to take that almost universal public sentiment of support or at least understanding and non-condemnation for what he did and what it means in the overall grand material scheme of things, and guide that latent, burning, never-dissipating anger and hatred toward the ruling class for what they do to all of us in our day to day lives toward constructive organizational ends. So basically we gotta take all that “Hell yeah get ‘em” energy pointed at things that can also further advance our shared, mutual class interests which can be instrumental toward BUILDING the revolution. People know and understand Thompson was not the only monster to slay in the vampire’s castle; now more than ever in day to day conversation and walking the streets I see and hear support for what was done. I see stickers and graffiti talking about it. *_WE HAVE A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY. THE LAST THING WE SHOULD DO RIGHT NOW IS STOP FINDING WAYS TO EXPLOIT THIS FOR POSITIVE ENDS. THIS THING CHASED OFF THE FALSE CAPITALIST ETERNAL CULTURE WAR FOR A WHILE! IT CAN BE MORE IF WE DO THE WORK!_*

I just know I would be miserable and dying if I was born in the USA. I take genetic medication and blood thinners. I live with my mother cause this condition cripples me so much I’ve never worked. They do that to us in Canada too. I can’t recognize my country sometimes when some RW dude is podcasting about our “socialist ways” (I wish). It also breeds a certain kind of empathy & community. Last time I was at ER (I think it’s called “Casualty” in UK?) I insisted I could swap with the kid who came in about an hour after me bc I’m an adult lifelong chronic patient with decent meds & knew I could manage another couple hours, while that poor kid was so obviously distressed. A while later in ER proper, I saw the kid walk by, released with a cast, & he looked so much better & his (I assume) Mom looked so relieved. I have no idea if they knew I got the nurses to switch us but we all got what we needed when we needed it (I knew I was going to be admitted so it was going to be a long night regardless). But it just makes you think about things differently when you’re a community rather than a customer.

WE NEED MORE OF THIS HERBY!!!! We are moving into a dangerous place and we need people with voices and platforms not to concave in this time. Hold our people accountable specifically! Because unfortunately it blows my mind how many people are ignorantly dumb… and happy to be (not sorry). I have been stunned by how many people in meeting state they’ve gotten there news for Twitter and TikTok I am dumbfounded because WE will and are the first to get hurt when the public decides our fate. So Bravo!! ❤

The thing with Luigi is that while some people see him as a symbol to motivate a social movement, others see him as "the hero we need" which is incredibly counterproductive. Heroes do not change societies, they don't even delay the inevitable. All they do is make people think that someone else will take care of everything, therefore enabling them to "not care" about the issue. The only way to stop abuse by the system is to find a way to regulate the system or to find a way to make the system obsolete by superimposing a stronger system. And neither of those things can be done if everyone is convinced that they don't have to think about the problem in question because "someone will save us all".

The fact of the matter is people are eventually going to forget about Mr. Mangione like they always do. People only acknowledge social injustice when it’s trendy. They don’t actually care about how corrupt the American Health Care System is. Even though corruption has existed in America for the longest, people are only now paying attention because someone who is conventionally attractive pointed it out. They pay attention for two seconds and then move on to Mr. Mangione’s physical appearance. If they really cared, they’d actually be fighting against it in ways that are actually productive and not just tweeting about it and making edits of the guy. There might only be a small amount of people who actually want to do something about the broken system and are more interested in doing that than in talking about someone’s attractiveness. Those same people might have actually been fighting for longer and been fighting harder against companies like UnitedHealthCare but don’t get far/are ignored.
@noneofyourbusinesslolz6112
@noneofyourbusinesslolz6112 19 күн бұрын
Continued: it’s actually really sad because I highly doubt that Mr. Mangione’s goal was to get people to objectify him. He most likely doesn’t care about all of the people saying he’s “hot” or maybe he does and hes only recently been radicalized so those things/this kind of attention still matters to him idk. But let’s just say hypothetically speaking that he does hate the system; I can’t imagine doing something so extreme to prove a point just to have people look at the point I was trying to prove for 1 second and then make memes about me and post videos about how attractive they think I am.

There are many critiques/concerns I have about the CEO situation and it is not about the situation itself. Before anyone comes for me, I also want to emphasize that I am not sympathizing with the billionaire here. Your video is frankly the first one I was able to sit through regarding the event because you actually provided reasoning and it wasn’t just bandwagoning what everyone else is saying. The fact that many are receiving their news information from TikTok or other social media platforms is beyond me. I understand the need for using memes and thirst traps to get us by but I find it troublesome how many are relying on it to get their facts. The memefication of this situation is making the entire event seem meaningless. You said it, our political IQ is sooooo low and this is another example of it. Also, I’ve seen countless people say this will start a revolution but it won’t. Everyone claims the only way for the CEOs and higher ups to listen to us normies is by enforcing vigilante. However, who is the first to throw the stone? Everyone is wishing for copy cats and the death of all CEOs but is anyone willing to put their life on the line for it and do it like Luigi. Thousands of women thirsting over him (and if you’re one of them that is great you do you boo) but will any of you step up and start this revolution that is so desperately being proclaimed? If the election showed us anything, the only ones who are willing to spark any change are black Americans, primarily black women. How many white women and Latinas voted for Trump despite his racism and being a literal abuser. Nobody (esp white folks) is willing to put blood on their hands for this cause. I’m not promoting violence here but I do find it ironic how many people are voicing for it yet I don’t see anyone stepping up to do it. As I said, I am not one to promote vigilante as I am also not a violent person either. That is just my personal beliefs. Currently, people are promoting violence and are in support of it (when it aligns with their own beliefs) but don’t necessarily think of the consequences of it. Trump is coming into office in a few weeks and I can guarantee things will worsen. Encouraging vigilantism can create more chaos as there will be a fine line of people who would be fighting for what is right and others using it for their own personal gain. Violence can create change BUT it can also create more conflict depending on the person who is committing the act. People promote violence as long as it aligns with their beliefs. Otherwise, it is considered an involuntary attack. LM did it for the right reasons. However, who is to say that the next person would do it for the greater good. The “greater good” also depends on the person and their motives. We saw what the Jan 6 rioters did and we were afraid but those rioters saw it as their duty to defend their constitution. It is unrealistic for any of us to expect any form of violence will lead to these positive outcomes that we desperately want. (Sorry for this long ass comment lol)

People getting their news from TikTok isn't so alarming with literacy rates going down. How many people outside of who may be in your own circle do you even know sit down to read a book after work vs go straight to Netflix, gaming, or endless scrolling to pass the time before their next shift? It's not just what you can get people's attention with, but how quickly you can get it and keep it. And I agree that this wouldn't start a revolution. While violence is a common theme among many revolutionary periods, too many people just wouldn't even be able to stick their necks out there behind any serious action (non-violent or otherwise) without at least a serious support for mutual aid already in place since the State would have nothing for you at that point.

I agree with everything you said and I was wondering the same thing. People would rather meme and posting little videos supporting him but where are the actual movements, exposing more CEOs and their corruptions and starting to get in touch with their community to see what needs to be changed? the way I see it is that Luigi made the sacrifice and everyone is behind their phones not taking real action. hopefully it does spark actual change and not just “a flash in the pan” thing
@GAHAHAHH
@GAHAHAHH 19 күн бұрын
And who are you to decide that. Revolutions take many years or even decades, you can not know the outcome in such a short time. And do you know what the word meme actually means? A meme is an idea that contains the desire to spread itself to be known by as many people as possible. So let me ask you does that not sound like a meme is a requirement for all revolutions to happen? There have been many great even globally encompassing things throughout history, revolutions among other things that have had their origins be incited by a single decisive action as small as what one singular person does to another singular person. Sure they may have been other factors and pressures that have been building over years but regardless the impact of that single decision is irrefutable. P.S. Don't you think it is a bit racist to claim "the only ones who are willing to spark any change are black" or even that a claim like that is even helpful at all instead further dividing people? Now maybe it is just me but what you are saying seems oppositional and dismissive. It's as if you are trying to downplay the voices of the people and have no real plan of your own, almost as if you want literally nothing to happen or worse you seem to want to demotivate and divide the people who have finally been given a common cause to rally behind. Rather than ask "what should I do?" you have shamed people doing things because you have deemed it "ineffective". I would provide you with the knowledge of "what to do" here but honestly I doubt you would do it and personally I think it would go a lot better and faster if you just stayed out of things.
