So what have we learned today? The A2 is the only version with 2 size 3 powerplants. The C2 and M2 both have 1 size 3. I was totally wrong about the M2 cargo reduction. The top layer of cargo is chopped off but this will result in more armour being available. Theres a little pistol rack behind the middle control panel in the cockpitnthat I missed. I gad no idea. I love it. A lot of People have said the back two centre turrets may be linked and fire at the same time. So if anyone can confirm that still works for all versions that would be awesome. The hardpoints can no longer be auto gimballled but can be manual gimballed without dropping a weapon size. 👍

The difference in cargo between the C2 and M2 isn't laziness, it's actually realistic. When I was in the Marine Corps and we up armored our vehicles, the amount of weight we could carry in the vehicles was affected. Vehicles are only rated to carry so much and if you add more armor to anything, the towing and carrying capacity will be drastically decreased, especially if you don't do any upgrades to the suspension and power train. I would imagine that when it comes to a vehicle that flies, that weight difference would play a significant role in how much the vehicle can carry.

Same when I was in the Army the several times we flew overseas. My first deployment with 82nd we loaded ammo and everything on the tarmac of pope airforce base and each of us had to step on scales full loaded with all our gear before we got on the C5 to fly over. When we stopped in Spain to refuel we couldn’t take off bc the air was to thin from being so hot and the plane was to heavy so we had to wait till dark.

I saw no mention of the micro armory between the pilot and copilot seats. There is a button to open a space that holds two hand weapons. I keep two Salvos (one-shot killers) there with suppressors, 3X scopes, and laser pointers. Suppressors might not help with boarders - compensators might be a better choice.

Yeah that's a my bad. Been in there so many times as well but still never knew it existed. Going to start watching other people's ship review 1st in the future to avoid this again. Something I avoided before as I didn't want my own interpretation to be tainted. But at the end of the day I'd prefer precise and accurate information. There were a few mess ups on this review.

The M2 Armory has slots for heavy weapons like 2 Railguns and grenade launchers that the C2 doesn't have. This was very useful when you could save weapons in those slots. Also the 2 turrets around the back used to be linked and fired simultaneously, not sure that's still true. The cargo situation is silly with the M2 , they lopped off one layer of cargo from the top. I think a better design would have been to put the jump seats and armory in the cargo bay on the sides before the elevator and sliced off a column of cargo on each side instead. You'd actually gain some cargo that way and it'd make more sense. Convert the drop seats and armory upstairs into a rec room and/or bunk beds for the marines.

Yeah I think that would have been preferable tbh. Easier to get out in an emergency as well.

Maybe this has already been commented, but is the reduced cargo in the M2 due to the extra weight of the armor that will be implemented later? Great video. I love the A2, but I often find myself vehicle blocked by the bombs and rarely drop bombs with it. If you are good enough at bombing the A1 is a much cheaper alternative, and then just use a C2 for hauling. Cheaper purchase in and out of game.

It's has. And over time I've totally changed my mind about it. Once armour comes in this will probably be the safest option. I think the top level of cargo is missing to compensate.

I always “assumed” the drop in cargo (its the height of the interior) was related to the thicker hull. But I completely agree with you.

I only have the C2, but when played around with the M2, I believe it only had a height of 3 crates to the C2's height of 4 crates. Can another row exist? I truly don't know. BUT I do wish they had the same amount of SCU.@@Reds_Resort

I think the M2 is going to come into its' own when armor is implemented, it should be a lot more survivable then when most of what lighter fighters throw at it just bounces off.

Wasn't there a time, where the rear turrets would be controlled simultaneously? I distinctly remember controlling the upper one and the lower one would aim and fire as well. I went from the c2 to the m2 for the added nose turret ate the expense of cargo space. not sure that was wise, liked the feel of the c2 much more. All very concise arguments and presentation. This is a must have, also for solo players!

If that was the case that would be ideal. If it was realistic for the time frame we should be able to sync up all the turrets on the A2 to a single user. 😂 Imagine that.

@@Reds_Resort Yes, I just looked it up: the rear turrets were linked up, at least on the M2. Also inbetween the Pilot and Copilot seat is a little deployable pistol rack (middle console at the back). Linking all the turrets from the A2... now THAT is scary!

Great comparison Red. For the M2, it is getting better armor than the C2 (not implemented yet, of course), but that'll likely be a significant advantage. As a result, this would mean more weight. In turn, this means less cargo capacity at the cost of more protection to maintain the same level of flight performance. If you're curious, the heavy armor was specifically mentioned in the Hercules Q&A. Direct quote from the Q&A: "How does the C2 ‘medium’ armor compare to the Starfarer-Gemini ‘upgraded’ armor? The Starfarer Gemini’s upgraded armor is a heavy model, akin to the Starlifter M2. The Starlifter C2’s medium armor is similar to the regular Starfarer’s armor."

I personally went with the M2, mainly because of the outlook of the better armor at a later date. Plus all I do is hauling mined materials. So I rather have a little more defensive power than capacity.

The mislabeling of the A2 as the M2 in the chapters section just caused me to spend 5.5 mil on a ship i didnt want. please correct the chapter names to prevent that happening to someone else

it just looks too much like an airplane for me... breaks my emersion... throw in the price of the A2 is the same as a Polaris (I like to buy all my ships as pledge).. I can't see it ever being in my fleet.

Don't buy anything. Game will never get finished so long as you cashcows are still spending. Don't think so.... well, if the last 11 years and 500+ million of raised funds, for a tech demo that crashes every 30 minutes, isn't proof enough for you, than you should be spending your money on therapy instead.
