Yeah, in the real story, Hercules was constantly hunted down by Hera just for existing, and he consistently killed people on accident with his brute strength and short fuse. The real Meg and her kids with Herc were killed by him while he was in a fit of madness caused by Hera. Pretty tragic to me.

In the original myth Hercules was not Hera's child, he was a mortal's, making him a demi-god. Hera loathed him for that reason, so she tried to kill him numerous times when he was a baby. Zeus sent him down to Earth, concerned for his safety. Of course they had to change some things about the myth to turn it into a movie. It needed to be suitable for children, like any other Disney movie.

Herakles also wasn't his birth name, he changed it to hopefully win Hera's affection, however this caused the opposite as she was infuriated by the insult of having Zeus' bastard son taking on and supposedly dishonoring her name.

***** Hera was just fed up of her man (Who also was her youngest brother) not knowing to keep it in his pants. 90% of all problems in Greek Myths stem from a god (70% of the time Zeus) not being able to keep it in their pants. Kinda sad that the goddess of family and faithfulness had the most unfaithful husband in the entire mythology. Adding up to that was the fact gods can't harm each other, so she had no choice but to take it out on the women and children who often were raped and byproducts of rape.
