@@trigun890 Might be regional. Where I am, older women have always been very patient and attentive students. Older men generally talk over me, try to explain the process I'm teaching them to me (incorrectly, I might add), and behave in the most condescending ways. I've had a few ask why I can't just send in "the guy that uses the tools for me" to teach them. They can't seem to comprehend that a 5' tall woman IS "the guy that uses the tools" and that's why I've been sent-- to teach them how to handle things properly.

It's so fascinating to see the different styles between candy masters! Greg focuses on the analytical and historical experience of making candy. (What chemically is happening?) Terry seems very process oriented. (What is the next step?) Steve approaches candy making very artistically. (What is the look and feel of the candy?) I really appreciate what each person brings to their candy making!

@@rayrayray I dont agree, before candy makers had the benefit of chemistry knowlege, they knew it by tactile and visual observation, even smell. Those skills are not as easy as they look. I tried making my own chocolate covered cherries after watching hercules vids plenty of times. Not anywhere near as easy as they make it look. There are multiple changing things you are having to pay attention to while trying to "enrobe" the cherries, and thats not so easy either.

After reading too many of these comments I just want to add one thing. Both Hercules Candies and Lofty Pursuits, and the folks we all know, seemed to have nothing but NICE & KIND things to say about each other and this experience. WAY too much backseat driving/folks trying to turn nothing into something, going on here IMHO. Glad they both enjoyed their time together, their exchange of techniques, and glad we got some great videos to enjoy out of it. And for me, that's all there is to it!!!!

I think Greg is really knowledgeable about candy and has his own personal process for candy making. While I do think that he respects Terry, Steve, and Craig and their way, I think he's just accustomed to a different approach and that kind of comes out in this video. I don't think he intended any disrespect, but I can see why some people think he was a little too pusy here. He was kind of "this is what we need to do, and this is how we're going to do it. But along the way, I'll tell you some history and give you some helpful tips for doing this in the future."

There's multiple ways to make candy so I'm not saying either is wrong at all, they're just both helping each other pick up tricks of the trade that they were taught. It's a hectic, noisy, chaotic situation to be working with food production and you have to be alert and quick to act. Usually the best way to do a good job with this sort of thing is to act decisively and confidently, and that is reflected in how he explains himself during this video. You guys need to remember that Greg was a little stressed as well, working in an unfamiliar setup with equipment that works differently than his own shop. Hard candy starts on a timer, and there's very little slop room before it's just too little too late. Listen to what he was saying. He keeps saying things are cooling off faster than what he's used to. When candy cools off too fast, you loose time to work with it at all. I'm glad to see my two favorite candy channels doing a collaboration and I hope they do another one in Greg's shop someday.

"You don't pet a cat by choking it..." lol. I love the intense and practical teaching from Greg. It gets the point across and communicates the ideal technique in an effective and funny way. Side note, what a cool candy, the imaging. I am so intrigued by the candy making process and I want to persue it. Watching your process at Hercules has inspired me more to do so.

A bag of this candy must cost ONE MILLION DOLLARS! Absolutely wonderful teacher and a great revelation for those of us who've never given a thought to how this kind of candy is made.

I think all the negative comments about Greg coming in to try and add subscribers to his channel are funny. Lofty Pursuits has over 375,000 subscribers --- that's 3 1/2 times as many as Hercules. I love watching Hercules and they are the ones likely to get a big boost from having Lofty Pursuits visit them, not the other way around! Greg strikes me as a guy who loves knowledge about candy, and enjoys sharing it. He has an interesting collection of antique hard candy making tools. His videos and style are different than Craig's so it will be interesting to see his of the same processes. As to the hammer comment, the science behind it was interesting. Practically Steve is usually pulling much larger batches and can't move them as quickly because of the actual process of twisting and folding over itself. The hammer was a solution to the problem of it sticking. With smaller batches Steve might be able to avoid that step in the future.

I could be wrong but don't think it has anything to do with subscribers for either company!! It's more about Greg teaching them how to make this style candy & I'm sure Greg might very well have learned a few things from them. It's all candy but it's 2 different worlds!

I think it shows a lot about sines character when their willing to reach out and help others in the same line of work..you honestly don’t see this anymore. To many people with the mentality that if it doesn’t benefit them then their not concerned..Great job Greg!!! I also love the pride that Steve and Terry have for company that their willing to try new ways to make it better!!!

I read all the comments about Greg before the video got too far in and by the end of it I came the to consensus that everyone who said all those nasty things were watching a different video😂 greg wasnt being impatient, rude, or arrogant. I really enjoyed him honestly, he knew so much about what he was doing and it was fascinating
