@Furyan Auror She was someone that shouldn't be attacking someone & threatening their life because she wanted to get rid of them even though they clearly cared about her. It was better that Gabrielle was the one that did it & actually cared. Anyone else would have just killed her for constantly attacking them in that world. To be honest.. that altercation saved her life. She realized she wasn't the best and she didn't know everything like she thought she did.

The clip I've been waiting for. Being older now I noticed that I identify with Gabrielle a lot as I'm rewatching the show. Watching it originally I thought Gabrielle was a weight on Xena and wasn't until this clip I was like...ok Gabby! I dig you. lol One of my favorite scenes. I've remembered this scene more than any other from this series, showed how much Gabrielle had grown not only as a young woman but a budding warrior as well.

This fight is always hard to watch. *Gabrielle* gave out such a beating it wasn't like her to do it but she was left with no choice, *Tara* was to blame. She kinda had it coming after winning the brutal assault in hand to hand the first fight, but *Gabrielle* with her *Bo Staff* in hand is pretty much game over.

Everyone's talking about how great it was for Gabrielle to beat Tara. And that's fine. I don't disagree. But I really want to call attention to the fact that she (Tara) was really damaged, given what her life was like to that point. I was satisfied when she got what was coming to her, then heartbroken when she broke down. This show was really good at pulling on your emotions sometimes.

Tara really is a good kid, she's just misguided and had to be set straight. This beating was waiting to happen. Unfortunately this put Tara in a place she never wanted to revisit. After her mom died, her father took to drinking and occasionally rough her up. That's how after coming of age she ran away and found herself in a motley crew of bad boys. I'm glad she got straight and found herself in a place where she belongs. The next time they run into Tara she's in a town that forbids dancing.
