What a tale! Xena made Callisto's life hell and after Callisto's tragic life, Xena finally kills her (although Callisto wanted to die & Xena was the only one who could kill her b/c C was a god at the time), Xena ends up sacrificing herself so Callisto can become an angel. As an angel, Callisto resurrects X & G, impregnates Xena, & then finally is reunited for all eternity with the parents Xena killed when Callisto was a girl. She gets her happily EVER AFTER. What a character arc.

A lot going on in this scene alone, aside from the entire episode: -Xena and Gabrielle's battle in the Afterlife -Xena and Gabrielle resurrected. -Callisto's secret reincarnation, and seeing her parents (her smile, WOW 😊). For me, my favorite moment is Joxer being so happy to see Gabrielle. I cry every time at that moment. Thank you for the video, and memories. ❤

I'm in the minority but I've always said while this is a tale about Xena's adventures post redemption it's more about Gabrielle's growth from a farm girl bard to a warrior experiencing Xena's adventures along with her. All the characters on the show-a few villains not withstanding-have depth Aries is a good example and of course Xena. The character who experienced the greatest growth, experiental change either willingly or through default has been Gabrielle. Theres no recognition of her season 1 character towards the end of the series and good or bad it's been fascinating to watch her evolve over the years. I think this is actually Gabrielle's bard tale about her adventures with Xena and how she came to be who she is.

@@starfire6789 It's been a long time since I've watched it through and through if I ever did. I have seen enough to not be surprised that he did. Knowing how much I like him I'd have a mental breakdown watching him have one for Xena and Gabrielle. Joxer is a lot like me. I can't stand seeing people I love in pain. I think I'd of had one too if I saw people I loved in pain. In fact I know I would. The fact I can acknowledge that seeing Joxer have a mental break down from being in so much heartbreak and pain for who he loved would be enough to break my own heart. I'm not sure what would be more painful. Joxer's heartbreak of watching Xena and Gabrielle legs get broken and crucified with nails in both their hands and feet or what was going through Joxer;s head. Thats probably what Joxer was imagining. That kinda death is not quick. It's slow and if you're lucky before the cold would freeze you slowly you'd die from shock or passing out long enough to never wake💔

To me, it wasn't just Xena and Gabrielle living again, but ultimately it was Callisto. She died the day Xena killed her parents, which made her the wicked person she is throughout the series. Xena rescuing Callisto from hell was Xena's way of making amends for what she did to Callisto. Now as an angel she is able to reunite with her parents and is truly alive as the kind-hearted person she was before. Sad to see her go, but happy to see that she has gone to a better place with the ones she loves.

y'all over here talking about Xena and Gabrielle's bond and I'm over here crying over Joxer. the way he looks at Gabrielle, just trying to say ANYTHING and he can't, he's so overwhelmed by his relief and love. the way he gently cups her cheek and the way her eyes widen a little ugggh. I was always sad Gabs wasn't in love with Joxer, he was just such a dorky, loyal goofball who loved fiercely. I'm glad he did get to marry Meg and have Virgil though, and still never stopped loving Gabs or Xena during those years

I got the look back in the day. They hammer it home more in the coming season. You can see on both Xena and Herc when they start to hint at Jesus. Although the times dont always work out. A Hercules episode aludes to Jesus being born and within a season or 2 we get adult Eli on Xena.

In the past, the Dark Xena would want to harm and kill Gabrielle, including draging her on the ground by a galloping horse (see the episode The Bitter Suite). In the case of Demon Xena, she genuinely doesn't want to "harm" Gabrielle and doesn't hate Gabrielle because she wants Gabrielle's companionship in whatever world or dimension she ends up in.

Yeah, the character Arcianna from Hercules' season 6 premier was supposed to be Callisto's sister and Callisto was supposed to show up and keep her sister from becoming evil too. This was supposed to foreshadow Callisto's reform in Xena as Hercules' season 6 premier, Be Deviled, aired the same night as Xena's season 5 premier, Fallen Angel.
