I'm trying to figure out how to best incorporate the triggers like they do here for samples to augment the live sound. Anyone know details on things like sensitivity settings? Are samples only triggered on the big hits here? Or are they velocity sensitive enough to be low when you play low? I can hear them when Dom gets big but in the beginning they don't seem to be coming thru with the quiet snare roll in the verse.

What are the triggers on the Toms for ?

I'm guessing to blend the live drum with some midi for that iconic CCM sound. Not an uncommon thing to do, the majority of the sound is coming from the drum itself. Think of the reason why we double mic the snare. The bottom mic captures more of the snare wire sound while the top gets more of the tone and attack. The blending comes either in post or at the board, also why you'll sometimes see a mic inside the kick with another mic on the outside of the reso head. Internal mic get the tone and attack while the outside mic gets more of the 'woof' sound of the kick.

Josiah Richardson if I’m not mistaken, in live settings triggers help avoid cymbal bleed in tom mics by only opening up the tom gate when the tom is actually hit. Hope that helps!

I think it might be this. A Zildjian 22 inch K Constantinople Medium Ride Cymbal. It just looks similar to it (the way the lighting hit it) I’m not sure if it’s the exact… hope this helps😀
