The mysterious card holder was meant for an access-card of one of the x-thousand parking garages in germany. It all comes down to the point, that most european cities are relatively narrowed and public parking space is rare and expensive. A few real life examples: - If your are in the public service and your payment grade is high enough, so you can afford an new shiny S8 and a county house, you will most likely get your personal slot for a garage near the building you work in, on top of your monthly salary. - If you are on a lower payment grade, though, you may participate in a parking-slot-lottery. No joke, just a sidenote. - And if your employment comes with frequent (foreign) travels, airports and trainstations have parking bonus cards for loyal customers including a discount or free first hours.

See, now this is good info. This is not something that we have to think about too often over here, although I can definitely see where an executive would need a key card to a private parking garage our a gate key for their gated driveway. Thanks Daniel!

My S8 has a fingerprint scanner in the start button. I noticed yours doesn't. Once you set up a user, it will read your fingerprint and remember where the seats, mirrors, music volume, and heater settings are when you turn off the car. Like memory seats but with more features. There are no memory seat buttons on the drivers' side, so it took me to read the instructions to figure it out!! Soft close doors are the official name. Teaches people quickly not to slam the door, plus you can show off, and ruins you from closing normal car doors for ever!!

Whoa! That is sweet! Mine definitely does not have that. And you are absolutely right. The soft close doors definitely have ruined regular doors for me. LOL I find myself half closing our other car doors all the time!

Trailer tow mode prevents the suspension from adjusting and keeps the engine in a manageable torque curve. The United States is one of the few countries where there is a large amount of people who buy trucks and SUVs only to use the bed or hitch once a year. While in Germany I found that there are very few trucks but lots of cars with hitches. It's easier and more economical to just rent a trailer when you need to haul something. Plus they don't have that complex where they think they need a big truck to feel important.

Also the ski bag... I use it every winter! Try to put dirty wet pair of ski in the car without the bag...it's not cool! Audi is a thoughtful company - if you have a quattro you might as well go for skiing from time to time. and your beautiful interior should not suffer for it lol

The soft close doors comes into it's own when the car (A8s more than S8s) is used as a chauffeur car, or when the managing director of the company needs to go somewhere on business. You open the door for them, they step in, and then you gently close the door (as you showed in the video) up to the first catch point, and then the soft close does the rest. That way none of the occupants are disturbed. So much better than slamming the door behind them, but even at that, the A8/S8s have a very solid Germanic close to them.

S8 was a flag ship cars and loaded with standard extras and options which here in NZ took the car over NZ$300K dollars or US$180K which is huge, the sound is a huge atrraction for many and gets the attention of many car lovers, also sadly gets the attention of the traffic police I have found in NZ. Having owned 2 now I always keep an eye out for good examples, but due to the price of petrol in NZ being around US$6.60 a gallon and they drink it especailly when you rev that engine which let's face it you just have to :). I've been looking at the latest S8 but getting a good example is still really costly and one with a remap and a few mods are around 700HP and 900NN, having no luck there I decided for a A8 4.2TDi with std torque of 800NM and HP of 350 and fuel usage around 7.4l/100 or around 37mpg and diesel here is around US$3.56 a gallon, I'm also embarking on a remap next week to take it to 930NM and 400HP and improves it's mpg if driven gently, it also does not get the same attention from the law :). my 2010 A8 in changing between the lines when i push down/up the signal stick alittle it blinks 3 times, and if i want it to blink continuously then i push it all the way down/up. that is so addictive feature that when i drive my other car i can't stop mistaking it.

Like the auto rear sunshade. I have a manual one on my passat. I literally put it up the day I bought it and only put it down for cleaning. It's almost as sufficient as a dark tint on the rear. People behind me with their brights on have no effect. Wish I had vcds. I cheaped out and got obd11. Still a good tool though.

I use my card holder for parking lot or garage key cards/tickets. Pretty nice to have when you come back from a flight at 1am and don't have to play "where's waldo" so you can get out and go home.

Before my b7 s4 was totaled I bought a part from Bremmen that replaced the card holder in the dash and turned it into a cup hold that comes out, kind of like the cup holders in the e90 bmws. If you have a b7 and you know how terribly designed the cup holders, handbrake, and armrest are designed it's a great thing to have.

Nice videos that you have, I hope that the car still drives well. With the Automatic Rear Sunshade, you are a bit wrong. Setting it to automatic, lowers the sunshade when you put your gearbox in R, not when the sun is starting to shine.

Memory seat disable button: Hit it when you hand your car to a valet or loan it to a friend. That way, when he/she messes up your ideal driving position, it won't stick into YOUR previously unmolested setting. It's an 8 series, so it's expected to be driven by a valet at least once.

Correction AD, the automatic sunshade is a feature that lowers is when you put the car in reverse and put back up when you drive away forward, not as you describe it. I just picked up my white 2013 S8. Your loyal subbi from Saudi Arabia 😉

justin whittington Rolling down the windows with a key can be done with certain software. You have to get a tool that controls the car and you can do all kinds of cool stuff with it. This is for a lot of Audi/VWs not just the s8

I would bet that the Audi engineers introduced the soft close doors in part because these air tight cars will keep the doors from closing and this feature finishes the job ! 👍

Have you had any Air Suspension issues ? I have an 2007 A8L, less than 55K miles, and the yellow and green warning air suspension lights have been coming on lately.. Sometimes the LIFT option is not lit. Front suspension, especially passenger side seems to be most problematic... Sometimes,, everything just works.. Very temperamental !

That first one is just to stop your alarm going off when you jack it up nothing to do with towing it’s just so you can work on it 😂 business card holder for when you go to meeting or quoting it’s a great idea. Soft close is so you don’t have to slam your door to shut it like a normal car you can just gently push it closed.

Regarding the towing. I live in Denmark (europe), and I don't see an S8 every day, but it is not uncommon to see an A8 towing something. That is regular. From trailers and caravans to horses. Yesterday I saw an RS6 towing a trailer full of hay! A couple of weeks ago I saw a RS6 avant at the Landfill/junkyard (Not sure about the translation, but where you take your trash if you have more than the trucks are gonna take. Typacally if your renovating your house, or have a lot of garden waste). So not uncommon at all.

Every year I find something new on it, this year ( year 3 ) I found out I have a MASSAGE SEATS. F.... smallest button on the side of the seat I never pushed before.

I'm sure you would have to do some custom work to get the exhaust to match up front, but I don't see why it wouldn't in the rear. Exhaust hangers are probably in different locations too. As far as bumpers, I'm sure those would match right up.

2018 dont know how is calling the ; soft closing door system. Its there for you, NOT to slam your door, because trust me...i've already own an 5th Audi (different models) all suffer from the doors. Its heavy and when you slam them heavy like you do in some bornig 1990--2005 cars (low quality) at some point your door stop closing fully. Only on the "1st click". Then you need to try to figure out the exact ammout of power and timing to fully close it. Audi weakness - doors. Do NOT close them with so much power. They are heavy - and there is a reason why. (outside noises/sound)
