Here Comes The Difficulty Spike.. - Crown Wars: The Black Prince - #11

Ey up everyone and welcome back to the north for a new series starting today. We're going to be starting a playthrough of Crown Wars: The Black Prince, a turn based strategy RPG with, you guessed it, classes and character customisation. You love to see it!
Crown Wars is set in alternate Medieval France (I only say alternate due to the general magic and abilities) as we have to gather our forces and ride out against the evil that plagues the land of France. There will be character death, there will be character sacrifice but we will have our victory!

Jesus the amount of enemies Fenris had to hold back there was just insane. Well he is a tank so he did his job, FOR HOUSE NORTHEN!

He did his absolute best but the game really just wanted to take him down. But whilst he may be down, he certainly isn't out!

Would pitch & caltrops or maybe even a burning field help slow the incoming reinforcements enough in defense missions to help with pacing?

The AI seem to have a tendency of waltzing around the AOE fields by just a square or two just enough that it feels like creating fields of caltrops/fire etc doesn't quite work as intended. Obviously when they're already in a crowd and we throw them then fine that works in most cases but similar to setting up overwatches, the enemy just casually sidles around them and only every now and then walks through (So it's a bit 50/50)

@@NorthernSoulGaming U could just create a choke that way so they either walk through the mess on the floor or walk right into ur kill zone by avoiding it. Obviously not the intended use but given how the AI works just change ur tactics in how u use them.

Are they any mounted units in this game, or they decided to make a medieval game with no cavaliers at all? That's a bit silly

To my knowledge there isn't any mounted based units but I suppose I'm only in chapter 3 (But then again I haven't seen any mention of them anywhere else either..)

@@NorthernSoulGamingthink only mounted units were Knights right?Mostly utilised as a shock unit in mass battles. If I remember correctly French had a massive knight cavalry that failed Vs English longbow men 😮. Most of the skirmishes were fought by footmen predominantly and we fight mostly small skirmishes here 😊
