My Dad worked for De Havilland at Broughton. Made me a doll's house with fitted carpets taken from off cuts from the Comet 4 😄We lived off Cockburn St, had lino & rugs but the dolls had posh carpets courtesy of De Havilland.

Morning George. Thank you for the video. This one brought back childhood memories of visits to Speke Airport (never Liverpool according to my nana) during the school holidays. When I was small (1970s) you could just walk into the airport main building and go up to the viewing balcony to watch the planes.

Great video! I think Hercules Drive is named after the Bristol Hercules radial engine, used by many aircraft during and after WW2. Also, Seahawk Drive is probably named after the Supermarine Seahawk, one of the early jet aircraft used by the Royal Navy. I used to live in Hunt's Cross, in the 60's, my dad was a pilot with Starways Airlines and flew DC3's DC4's and DC6's from Speke. He was also an RAF reservist, and flew Meteor MK7's from RAF Speke, with 611 Squadron. I spent a lot of my time with my mates at the airport on weekends. I remember other airlines at Speke were British Eagle, Cambrian Airlines, Dan Air, and Air Lingus. When British Caledonian went out of business I remember seeing a lot of their Boeing 707's lined up on the apron waiting to be sold off. Happy days!

That was alright George. Took my lad down on that runway years ago and enjoyed it 👍. Got a couple more things to mention to you, I don’t know if you saw my comments off your ‘Forgotten Liverpool’ video but going back to wavertree there is an old railway ticket station on the corner of smith down Road and nicander road which is now called C and G finishing and may be worth calling into it as he may show you round the shop. Then if you carry on walking under the railway bridge on your right hand side is where the access was to get up to the railway station but now fenced off. Also on the corner of Crawford Road is the old ‘Hatfield hotel’. There is a sign above the main doorway with the name on it and on the floor as you are about to enter the building are if memory serves me right, little tiles with the name of the hotel. It was nicknamed ‘The pub that never was’ but that’s something you can research why. Ok George 👍

When you walked down the old taxiway, the yellow line is the centreline of the taxiway and is there so that an aircraft nose wheel can follow it to let the pilot know that he is in the middle of the taxiway. The lights are also there to illuminate the centreline during night. The reason that it goes round to crash gate 6 is that they built the new runway while the old terminal was in use and this was the main taxiway to the “new” runway. The non-potable water is most likely an EWS (emergency water supply) situated at strategic locations around most airports to allow the fire fighters to access more water in an emergency. Hope this sheds a bit of light on things.
