I started the Carnivore diet last month. I’ve lost twenty pounds and haven’t felt this good in twenty years.
@andrewstrakele6815Ай бұрын
That’s the KEY! Don’t MANAGE Type 2 Diabetes - REVERSE IT (or Prevent it) by following a Whole Foods Ketogenic Diet with Intermittent Fasting and occasional Prolonged Fasting. Note that the CARNIVORE DIET is the Lowest Carb, most Nutrient Dense of the Ketogenic Diets if you are interested in achieving the fastest results. 👍
@Jennifer-gr7hnАй бұрын
not that simple - many risk factors such as childhood trauma, stress, heavy metals, molds, antibiotics, seed oils (one can eat "carnivore" and have plenty of seed oils)
@andrewstrakele6815Ай бұрын
@Jennifer-gr7hn - I agree there can be other factors to good health and you mentioned several. It was not my intent to comment on these other factors. If we’re focusing on the DIET factor, the one that contributes MOST to Type 2 Diabetes, then a Ketogenic Diet with Intermittent Fasting and occasional Prolonged Fasting is the way to go. You cannot Reverse or Prevent Type 2 Diabetes UNLESS you deal with Diet & Fasting. Anyone who believes they are following a Ketogenic or Carnivore Diet and continues to use Industrial Seed Oils has not done any research on the subject. Butter, Beef Fat, and Bacon Grease are the Cooking Oils of Choice for the Carnivore Diet.
@motomarty8269Ай бұрын
Correct. I never use any seed oils to fry my meats. Ghee, lard, olive oil, cocoanut oil, duck fat, beef tallow.

If you do a ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting and you do it faithfully you will have weight fall off. I lost 64 pounds in 8 months and have kept it off now for an additional 9 months. Exactly. Wt loss is all about diet. Entirely. Eliminate ALL processed “foods”. Natural fat, such as avocado, is ok. I’ve got a lg gallstone, from my high fat diet. I’ve been on medical medium, which is just real foods,(fruits, veggies, some meat if you like). He recommends eating foods that are healing for your condition, eliminating those that aggravate. I’ve lost over 20 pounds in 5 weeks, without trying. No exercise due to broken toe.

Slowly working back up to ~100 carbs / day. Try to consume all daily calories by 7pm. Current meds include metformin 500mg 4x, time release insulin 15 units at 10pm. My issue is: Got breast cancer, started eating healthy, exercised, and yet A1C continued to climb…. Because I was put on anastrazole which steals estrogen and estrogen is part of what assists in glucose moderation. 33 percent of women put on anastrazole become diabetic. I had to get my doc to give me a CGM to monitor my glucose and learn how foods are now affecting me. If I eat carbs my glucose spikes over 140 … even up to 230, depending on what I eat. I have had to go very low with all my carbs. I feel good but would sometimes like to eat a few berries or lentils, or beans, or even a sweet potato, but if I do, my glucose spikes very high. Drbeen, I am curious if I am taking anastrozole (the lack of estrogen) is there a way for me to avoid becoming diabetic but also have some carbs in my diet? It has been very restrictive to eat the way I do. I don’t know if I can go the 5-10 years that I have to be on this medication. I don’t want to be diabetic. I have lost 35 lbs and don’t have much fat left to lose but the carbs still spike my glucose. I don’t see improvement in insulin resistance and I’m not even sure if it is IR or just the lack of estrogen that is causing it. Any suggestions? I do intermittent fasting, lost 35 lbs, am very skinny (size 2-4 pants), and can’t lose much more fat (hardly any more left).

I had type 2 diabetes (as a result of eating like a fool). AIC of 10.2! Lost about 30 pounds by consuming less than 100 grams carbs per day. Doctor prescribed 2,000 mg metformin per day. I graphed my progress. Morning glucose levels started falling as well as A1C values. Then after a several months I dropped metformin in half. The values continue to fall with my weight. Then I quit the metformin. Values continued to fall... now AIC at about 5.8...so this plan works. However, I believe it is hard to lose weight without cutting carbs.

I have metabolic syndrome, A1c 6... I'm not overweight, 131lb. Lost 8-9 lbs this year. I've been doing intermittent fasting, very low carb, and almost no sugar except from berries. I eat sourdough einkorn bread for carbs, that's it. Hike 3-5 times a week for 1 hour, and heavy weights 3x a week. No doctors have been able to help me get metabolic syndrome under control. Post menopause, no estrogen. Going to try hormone therapy with Biest 80/20, progesterone and testosterone. Does anyone else have this issue?

My cancer has caused me to have A1C 6.1…. (Actually anastrazole - steals my estrogen, which is the pill I have to take). I weigh 130 now and have lost 35 lbs. I feel very skinny…. Size 2-4 pants. I do IF,no sugar except berries, very low carb, meats and fats. I walk 5-10 miles per day, am in my 60s, work out with weights/resistance training and yoga 3-5 times per week. My A1C came down to 5.6 but I still have issues with carbs…… If I eat carbs, my glucose will spike higher than 140 up to 230 depending on what I ate. Post menopause, zero estrogen, and can’t do hormone therapy due to my cancer. I cannot seem to reverse my reaction to carbs. 😢 Yes, I know carbs cause spikes but not as high for some people compared to what it does to me. My doctors have not been able to help me either.

In such cases, two interesting methods can be used. a) intermittent fasting. Possibly eliminating snacks. Compressing the duration of window between meals to elongate the fasting time, and b) reducing the inflammatory foods to give pancreas a break and help pancreatic cells redifferentiate to functioning cells.

While fixing other life issues, dont eat the problem - carbs that induce insulin. Period. There are so many great, easy, yummy low and zero carb, higher butter and animal fat keto or carnivore recipes. Carbs are unnecessary in every way! Powdered egg whites make all kinds of very low carb breads yummy. Allulose makes even dessert yummy. Simple red meat is best! Butter mayo! So many great options! And NO, the grocery bill does not go up. Actually down. Because it is all so nutrient rich (no high calorie malnutrition here), so you eat less, have virtually no cravings, more energy, and dont spend money on death inducing fast food. Family and holiday friendly, too!
