Hi Piia and Edward, congrats on your third year together! Thank you for being open and vulnerable. I’m a Lebanese man married to a Chinese woman for many years now. We had to overcome many many issues in our relationship, including many cultural related differences. Please know that it is not impossible to have a sustainable interracial Lebanese/Chinese relationship. Happy to discuss anytime off-line if you ever need to talk. it is surprising how many of the issues are so similar across different relationships!

Hi! Good day to you both! I hope everything’s going well. I wanted to reach out and ask a question because I’m facing some challenges in the dating scene as an Asian person here in Australia. I’ve noticed that there seems to be a perception that Asian guys are seen as undesirable by some girls, even by Asian girls themselves. I’m genuinely curious about your experiences as an interracial couple, and I wonder if you’ve encountered similar stereotypes or how you’ve navigated through them. Any insights you could share would be appreciated. Thanks for being open to discussing this topic.

In my personal experience there's still a cultural gap. My guy/girl fob friends all think it's implicit to block exes on all platforms on breakup while my American friends tend to take the relationship and circumstance into the picture, ie. a short situationships inside a main friend group. That being said, the story here does sound a bit insensitive from edwards side lol. Buut, I think the only thing that really matters is how your partner reacts when you express your expectations--and it seems like he's adjusting for her

@indiangum46917 ай бұрын
Yeah. Same with being jealous which is normal and should be normalised too but westerner women usually pick on the guy's ethnicity when they get jealous like "Korean guys are so conservative" as if western men don't get jealous with their gfs hanging out or talking with too many male friends.

A true man knows how to make his woman feel secure. Liking other women's photos is a way of telling them you validate them. The problem is that the concept of "hooking up" has become so acceptable and the term so casually thrown around in Canadian/American society. For example, notice that Edward didn't refer to them as "women with whom he's had past history with". Coming from a Chinese-American background myself, I'm pretty sure that if Edward was more easternized rather than westernized, his cultural influence would've made him cognizant of that as well. Being conservative isn't necessarily a bad thing; although our society constantly wants to paint it as such. It's OK bro, you've caught a real winner here. Just don't ever "hook up" with anyone else again and I'm sure you guys will live happily ever after =)

Conservatism is worthless. What we need to be is collectivist. Every place on Earth other than the US are practically collectivist.
@marvinsulzer82587 ай бұрын
Give me a break… Asian guys who claim to be “conservative” about it use that label to justify the fact they can’t attract a girl to hook up with in the first place. If you are BORN in Canada you will always be more western leaning. I get it, the dating pool is rough on Asian men. They are statistically the least desired. But if given a chance to hook up with a white chick or a hot Asian girl, 90% of these self proclaimed “conservative” Asian men would take it. Hook up culture is never a problem for men who can actually attract women with ease. They won’t necessarily participate in “hook up culture” but they won’t have a problem with it like you cause they are too busy rizzin. The common complaint that a lot of Asian girls have about Asian men is that they are mamas boys. This is why Asian girls run to white dudes. These are the dudes that claim to be from “conservative eastern cultures” when in fact their moms smothered them so much that they aren’t equipped to even talk to women.
@TaeNyFan7 ай бұрын
@@marvinsulzer8258Most of my male Asian friends in the UK have no interest in dating white women. They also don’t have problem dating Asian women. The Asian women that run to white dudes are mostly below average Asian women that cant date hot Asian men.

We had some mean stares and looks but we don't care because our love for each other is genuine and amazing. He was my first love and crush that I felt in love with because he enjoys my nerdy personality, he's a hearing person and I'm deaf with autism, I have to wear cochlear implants and hearing aids. There is a huge biological difference between men and women. Men do the chasing and that isn’t it doesn’t turn off easily. Historically woman just had to sit back and wait for a man to find them. I’m not saying it’s right but it is significantly harder for men to turn that side of them off. Especially when it’s early in the relationship (I think it’s clear Edward isn’t DMing his ex yesterday. I think Lebanon is too Westernized, but there's also the influence of Middle Eastern culture (I'm Turkish and I think it resembles Turkey in this regard). Honestly, it's not normal for me to like any girl's photo. It makes me feel like I don't have a girlfriend even though I do. This might sound funny, but this is how we girls think.
