The worst thing a game can do is care about lore more than gameplay. The average player will know almost nothing about the lore unless it is directly told to them.

Of course it depends, games like fortnite shouldn't have such a detailed lore like legend of zelda however things like live events which was somewhat one of my main points in my video were always more lore focused rather than gameplay focused. In some ways you're right, I'm not expecting epic up the quality of their lore but simply doing what they've been doing the entirety of chapter 3 which hasn't been going their way.

I hated that there was only 1 town (Slappy Shores). Chapter 1, 2 and 3 felt like real islands while ch4 felt like a clustered map

I think they were going for that sort of style, since it was just a clump of a bunch of parts put together into an island, but yeah it does feel less real compared to chapter 1, 2 and 3.

What you're reffering to is some data miners finding out that C4S2 mega and C4S3 wild were actually supposed to be C3S5 & C3S6. Chapter 4 as a whole was a rushed mistake to keep their relevance!

The chatper 4 season 1 Battle pass is actually Great imo. Even though some skins didn't really fit well into the season's theme, but at least there's variety to them. Do agree with the collaborations. There's been why too many collaborations in battle passes these days, and Epic really needs to slow down with the collab stuff in battle passes. I love collabs, but sometimes it gets overwhelming at times.

My problem with the chapter 4 map is that it’s too small. The late game absolutely sucks because you are getting constantly 3rd partied and surprised at random by campers and rotators. The framerate in this game has also gone to shit because of all of the crap that has been stuffed into this oversaturated game. In the city alone, my framerate is essentially cut in half.

Interesting points, I must say even though I have experienced 3rd parties more often I didn't think of that when making this video. The framerate is probably worsened because of fortnite's rapid improvements to its graphics, which can make some older systems & consoles run the game slower if they don't meet the recomended requirements of the game.

@@Juulian00After 3 seasons in, I can also see that the framerate problem also affects modern consoles that are on the 120fps mode. In competitive matches on a display without VRR, stuttering becomes a major problem because of the assets that are stuffed into the map.

I was thinking about it and chapter 3 season 3-4 is where everything went down hill we weren't getting good events, we were getting bad holiday festivals, and the story line became a disaster. I feel like this was because Donald knew he was going to retire so I think that him killing off the seven was him trying to end off the storyline. I am also 99% sure that the OG season and Chapter is like a reboot for fortnite and its story line.

Consider all the changes and you understand what Epic is trying to do. Smaller map, dashing, insane mobility in comparison to previous seasons. They want to decrease the overall game match time. Previous match time could have been as long as 30 minutes until final circle, what is it now 24 minutes? I know that the average match time is far lower now then before. This will increase the number of matches per hour each server can process and decrease the number of servers they need

The whole problem with chapter 4 is the map which has my 3 most hated biomes in Fortnite, the crossovers also just got me burned on the game. Not only that but the lootpool absolutely sucks there is nothing i like about it at all, and the real reason I even stopped paying attention to the game was the fact that the story just stopped. The only reason I would play was to see the weekly challenges to figure out what was going on with the story. This season makes me feel a litttle bit better about the story but I still don't want to play because the game has been damaged so bad beyond repair.

The takes and opinions you give to us in this video are fair and definitely warranted. Now in my opinion. I definitely don't like the new 'Yearly Chapter' thing they are seeming to go for now, which is obligatorily worse and showcases how little content they can come up with. The lore should NOT be as important as it is nowadays, it always ends up boiling down to the Zero Point having a panic attack every time they are out of ideas and it lost the charm it used to have.

Main hates for me the terrain was obnoxious to travel through the colors blended with players especially in places like the jungle epic and legendary loot being way too common lootpool being too flooded with stuff and then the lore doesn’t line up with what they were doing previously

19:08 I didn't mind the augments that much in the game, once it saved me and helped me get a solo win since I rolled a chug cannon and got out of the storm to get the last guy. But sometimes I felt certain augments were unfair and also really rare to get. iirc, there was an augment that gave you health per shotgun shot, so if someone has that they're extremely hard to kill since they can keep trading shots with you and they'll deplete your health and heals while theyre still sitting max HP. I could also rarely get the augment but when I did I usually always won the game. And of course, you obviously can't tell what augments people have that you push so it's impossible to know if they got good RNG in their augments like siphon. When they finally left in Season OG I didn't even notice, forgettable feature for me Great video btw!

I'm really biased because chapter 4 season 1 is when I picked up fortnite after years of not playing, but I LOVED it, you had the scar, hammers, and faulty splits kinda reminded me of titled. I have great memories of it even though, looking back it was kinda mid.

Here I am in Chapter 5 and these problems still persist albeit to a lesser extent. The battlepass this season has lore relevant skins with around the same quality to that of CH4 S1. To counteract this however, the lore in question hardly exists at all; why are we in a new map? What is the Underground and the Society and why do they hate each other? All of these questions go unanswered.

We already know all of those answers, society and underground are the new ghost and shadow, shadow being power hungry (the society) and ghost being much less powerful, we are on the new map because the world had a reset. There you go. Also the reason they are making story harder to understand is probably because it’s more like chapter 1, cryptic and don’t really understand what’s going on until people deep dive. Leakers are already saying the next season will probably be apocalypse themed after a big battle from the sides. Hope you understand it just a tiny bit more.

@Juulian00 and it wasn't the first time, I actually never fully enjoyed an event, with the c2 s2, c1 s9 and c2's ending (i got kicked during this event too tho) events as exceptions. The game usually kicks me out or sends me in servers where the event doesn't start. Maybe it could be a problem with my devices, so I can't actually blame epic for all this

I started the game with Chapter 3 Season 4. It was my favorite season so far, but Season OG was great since I never got to play on the Chapter 1 map. My first live event was Fracture, and it... wasn't great. I thought the Chrome was a fun mechanic though

As an OG player playing since season 4, any seasons leading up from Chapters were straight dogsh*t. Legit if i made a tier list of fortnite in 2017-19 it would be A-S Now from 2021-23 it easily goes to F. They just doing all these collabs for the money, its pretty much a new copycat version of EA games all over again.

Lov ethe tf2 music! 😅😆👍🏻 i actually like the map and it's variation and the size kinda feels a little easier to navigate, but idk, there could be more new landmarks or locations and stuff. I also agree with the flatness. I feel theres a bit less verticality and mountains and such. Game graphics look great now too. The revamped combat since chapter 3 with sprint and mantling, sliding, all that made the game so much more fun for me. However, by this time im watching, season 3 has like a month left and there's been a bit more landmarks or locations. Season 3 added some cool stuff. But yeah, that live event was just DOO DOO, man! 😂😮‍💨 very disappointing! We got transformers in this now though, al Donald mustard got me! 😅 hope we get unicron as an event or something! Hammer was cool, deku smash was cool, but bs! It was just around too long and it got a little annoying 😅

We're now at chapter 5, and though Dusty may be one of my favorite skins aesthetically, I still wonder where the hell the MVP and zombie baseball comes from? I was hoping we'd have something related somewhere and have a chance to use the skin for the greater part of the lore, but no, Dusty is just a random person in a random battle pass for no reason? I'm a bit unsatisfied with what they did for skins in that first season, and it really didn't get much better until like season 4, which was just a rehash of season 2 chapter 2, but worse.

The most exciting character this chapter for me was the ageless and the ways the story could’ve gone with him in it, also because I love medieval themes. I really hoped that the map was smaller to add new parts (they did but it took more than we expected) and it was beautiful. I love the medieval theme although they tried to add some modern urban twist to it that I don't like much. I hate collabs in BP, and anyone that have to explain to a new player why cannot get ever again Superman, Vader or Spiderman will understand why. I love Doom Guy but not made sense in this pass, if you are going to include collabs, made them logical to the season... I loved kinetic ore and the hammer as a new mechanic but it seems that didn't test them much due the lot of bugs the hammer had during the season. Deku Smash and Kamehame will be great to a more fantastic oriented theme, I miss more details going that way instead the urban/tech component. I noticed you didn't mentioned the x-caliber, the shield or the bird drone and I don't remember how far in the season they appeared but I think they added more variety to the gameplay. I enjoyed the season although is probably one of the worst of the chapter, for me the fourth was the best with the heist theme, the second the second with Mega City and the oriental zone, then the third with the jungle and the ruins (I'm sorry I loved it), then this first one and at last the horrible downgrade of the OG season.

Im so happy that chapter 1 is back. Chapter 4 is the worst thing thats ever happened in any game the map was stupid it was just locations with nothing to them and my biggest problem was they were all new and the was no mix of old stuff, chapter 3s map was good at the start but in my opinion by the end of the chapter there was a bit too much on the map, i thought chapter 2 was the best of the 'new' maps i just hope epic look at how well season og has gone so far and remember this when making chapter 5

Personally, this is one of my favorite maps. It's the most graphically appealing (That was until the jungle tainted it with its presence), and it was the chapter that I attained some pretty substantial skill milestones.

When it comes to battle pass they should bring back the thing from chapter 2 season 2 and 3 where you would go in to a sort of room or a settlement and see all the skins in the battle pass. there would also be a lot of secrets and easter eggs which was very cool

what chapter 4 could have been c4s1: they could have added a greasy grove and tilted combine town at that mountain between the citadel and brutal, it was even hinted. they could even have added 1-2 more bosses, and have made that lake south-east of faulty another location. c4s2: could have added the volcano back, as was hinted, and maybe add a proper boss POI at hidden henge or smth, and could even have added a location such as the shark, grotto, or rig back at a location like maybe off the coast of forest forge. c4s3: wilds biome could have added another extended new portion of the map, and should have been at some non poi used place, like that frozen lake in the snow biome, and a few more places, and should have added a medium sized sandy beach kinda biome below slappy and above the volcano, and have made a town inspired by the party royale map(which i really like the template of) c4s4: kado having taken the citadel, turning it into eclisped estate, and the oathbound having had built a new citadel at the mountain south of eclipsed. that green place in the snow biome, having expanded and turned into another boss POI, and lonely also having had been taken over. relentless also having been built, and the land between kenjustu and steamy having become another base. breakwater bay and knotty having expanded, and the yacht having returned, moving around the map. give more ideas in the comments for a few more seasons(for if chapter 4 would have been good)

I came back to fortnite in chapter 4 season 3. Honestly, I liked it so much that I bought the battle pass and I did all of the bonus quests. It felt like a nice change of pace from whatever trash I was playing in chapter 3. That’s just my opinion though.

How i would rewrite chapter 4: Season 1: The season plays out as normal, but the most wanted event doesnt happen until next season Season 2: The rift gate spawns in eclipsed estate, crushing the outhboand and the ageless hides somewhere in the island. Kado thorne now rules the island, with his time machine and the 2 other pois come later the season. The most wanted event also happens. A live event happens where the ageless battles kado thorne, resulting in the ground cracking revealing the jungle and kado survives. Season 3: Tension increases between kado thornes empire and many people are in hiding. The jungle increases in size, but there is more mobiltiy this season. A resistance is growing Season 4: The syndicate returns, bringing mega city through rifts. Jones and others all regroup and plan a heist with a team in mega city. Throuought the season, we end up taking the time machine to stop kado thorne from stealing reliks. We end this season in another live event, involoving the dragon in mega city. Kado ends up getting killed, and the island starts destablizing. It is unsafe so we retreat into the time machine. Season 5: Season OG plays out. We decide to make changes to change the course of the future of the island… Seaso

I think they brought plenty of content, atleast in S1. There was so many oathbound items like the shield, falcon and more alongside new graphics finally so it feels like a new chapter and theres unique biomes aswell. This autumn biome is way better than the primal or dead reality one, and the smaller size is still better than ch1 and makes more stuff happen and good pacing

Chapter 4 was rushed. Compared to the others, this is dog crap. Chapter 2 and 3 both had AWESOME openings and this chapter didn't. I really enjoyed chapter 3's opening though. In chapter 2 and 3 we got new defaults and default loadouts (pickaxe and glider). They just reused chapter 3's defaults. Which to me was lazy. The chapter overall felt rushed. The map was small, the grass was absolute crap. No new movement mechanics except hurdling which was super broken. They either A. rushed it to compete with other games, which at the time chapter 4 launched, COD Modern Warefare 2 release. Or B, had a actual deadline for it.

Yeah, my problem is that the map is small with 9 named POIs, the map is mushed up that made the map ugly, this is the first ugliest map that fortnite created, like if I worked for epic, I will design the maps that are better than chapter 4.

My gosh Chapter 4 sucked. I barely played it at all. I didn’t like the new map (Mega City was a good place through I would love it to be brought back), it was crammed with locations. Every time I joined, it would be right when the game started because of all the loading my Nintendo switch had to do. It reached my breaking point in Chapter 4 Season 4, I decided to play a game, and it was horrible. The textures had trouble loading and the fps was down from the usual 30, then when I was riding on a motorcycle, my switch wouldn’t stop vibrating, it was horrible! Epic should know that Nintendo Switchs aren’t equipped to handle this much data at once, I had a horrible gameplay experience because there were too many locations which were packed with stuff and caused nothing but bugs! Man the OG season was definitely what we needed. I hate how short Chapter 3 was because Chapter 3 was awesome. They just made it last a sidle 365 day period, maybe this is why Chapter 4 was faulty and terrible. But to be honest, Chapter 4 was doomed from the start because it started with a horrible and boring event that destroyed the chapter 3 and chapter 2 islands.

How is it epic’s fault Nintendo made a console with terrible specs? I understand that you probably prefer or only have a switch, but it’s nobody but Nintendo’s fault that the game runs bad. I respect your opinion, even though I loved chapter 4, but I just can’t see how epic is supposed to optimise the game for switch without holding back the graphics for the entire game

@@MoistyZX yeah, Nintendo does have a reputation for making consoles with low specs, probably in order to make them more affordable for their target audience, families. They have stripped down games for their consoles in the past, but not anymore. I prefer Nintendo Switches because of one thing, They are portable. Also I like the switch because the games are awesome.

Tbh i wouldnt call it bad or sucks its one of my favorite chapters (doesnt beat chapter 2) i just think the seasons were fantastic and fun but the event for this chapter was a flop speaking of events THERE WERE NO EVENTS the only event is the big bang but to be fair chapter 4 is a 7/10.
