Didn’t expect such strong Disney villain vibes to come out of this one. Huh. Weird way to end a year.
Episode two of Nebulus’ Holiday Special. I think Gangplank’s theme more than any other stood to benefit from added vocals. It feels like there was room created for vocals in the mix that then remained unfilled - at least until I came along and did what I do. There is a bit of humming in the intro and the crew singing near the end, but they’re not as prominent as in the Captain Gangplank version.
Speaking of, why didn’t I use the Captain Gangplank version? Few reasons. One, Captain doesn’t feel as vocally bereft as Scourge. Two, I find Captain’s rhythm too straight, static, and stale. Three, I knew before choosing that I wanted to make this a song Gangplank would use to rally his crew in shared hatred of Miss Fortune: something he’d have much more reason to do after losing his ship, his throne, and his arm to her.
Probably gonna be about 3 months before the next proper League Lyricised. Gonna use the first quarter of 2023 to get through a bunch of dumb content ideas I had in 2022. Bit of music, bit of voice acting. Oh, and the Q&A. Can’t forget that.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be spending my New Years night recording the worst “lyrics” I’ve ever written. However you’re spending yours, enjoy it as best you can, and charge forward into 2023 with both the fury of the minotaur and the determination of the demigod who Fortnite danced on its corpse.

Not gonna lie, this song is oddly extremely motivational. The desire of someone trying to take back something that they lost, something that was rightfully his. The determination and confidence in Gangplank and his followers' voice, so sure that he will take back Bilgewater, and hang all of Miss Fortune's organs on his front wall.

This channel is criminally underrated. The sheer quality of these songs is mindblowing! The lyrics are nothing less than masterful and the vocals are just perfect. I liked Ruined King a lot, but Gangplank basically became a cuck in the game. Gangplank in Burning Tides is GOATed, and this lyrics is the perfect manifestation of that.

These lyrics don't correctly represent Gankplank's motivations. I am no GP creator or his lore author, but from what I know, after he lost to mf, he was more shattered than mad. His own point of view was challenged (I am an undefeated captain), and he started madly trying to regain and prove his values. So I think the Scourge in his description stands in the definition of "cause great suffering to" but not to others, but to himself and his shattered beliefs. His revenge is just a natural outcome caused by his environment and the things he used to do before.

That's a fair interpretation of him. I'd agree that initially after being overthrown, yes, he was helpless and lost and even a bit confused. He wouldn't have been so desperate for Illaoi's aid otherwise. But I think after a while, at least by the time of the events of Ruined King, he focused his mental state back into one of hardened ambition and fury. And if there's still any of that doubt and vulnerability within him, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want either his followers or his enemies to be aware of it.

I disagree. He is not hopeless, he is literally so set in his ways to regain power, so willed that he passed nagakburos' test of will (no easy feat). Not broken but determined. Song fits perfectly.
