This is actually based on a comic book (graphic novel if that makes you feel better). The comic is really beautiful, moving, and very experimental. Seems like this story was maybe told better on the pages of a comic instead of as a movie. Well, at least this movie.

I’ve been bingeing your videos/ podcasts and I’m really enjoying them ❤😂 I remember Joseph saying he was once a hairstylist, and I caught Robin Wright on Colbert the other night w/ this awful 90’s boy band hairdo and she was promoting this film! It’s nice to see her and Tom together again( Jen-ny lol) I saw Forrest Gump when it premiered on a first date in college with my current hubby 😊I’ve since found Tom to be insufferable over the years so “ having a life outside of him” sounds like sweet freedom to me!

Funny. This film is adapting a comic that we dug into our freshman year of college awhile ago. I found the comic pretty beautiful. Not sure if it needed a film adaptation. I think part of what makes Here great was the way it played with the comic medium.

as usual great review, i like the hot take of demolishing the walls. Also the one equating the plot to tangle headphones chords is good. l suggest watching Bob's early movie; Used Cars (1980). Some walls getting smashed with Pirate TV broadcasts, teenager joyrides, actor playing two roles on opposite spectrums, dog piss and a judge with a toy guillotine on the bench. Among other 70's style anarchy while not having a plot that is hard to follow. Maybe the peak of Steven Speilberg's "touch" collaborating as he did with Poltergeist, Goonies, Twlight Zone & Gremlins. If he only stopped then....

Hi Joseph & Nick! Joseph you're comments about the movie are correct. Saw the movie two days ago and was very disappointed, not what I expected. They didn't degage Tom and Robin. There's a huge library of Tom and Robin going back decades when they were younger. So they just took their images from various decades and used their exact images when they were younger to insert them into the movie.

I was fully anticipating/hoping that the final scene of the film was way in the future when aliens had built a house on that same land lol. I thought the movie was just okay. I agree the acting felt overly stiff and artificial, clearly intentional on the director's part, though I’m not sure why. It seemed like the film wanted to convey genuine emotions about the passage of time, yet the artificial tone worked against that. I also think the story could have benefitted from a stronger, more cohesive plot that better connected the families and events, giving it a more clear focus instead of feeling so disconnected and random.

This is a boring film that it keeps playing forward and backward in time and their stories are irrelevant. Just telling different stories in the same house thru different period of time. Luckily, I downloaded the pirate version to watch so I didn't lose a cent to the film making company for this garbage quality film. LOL, I only spent the first 15 minutes to watch seriously using the native 1X playback speed and I immediately realized that the story structure of this film is junk. Then I needed to scroll my remote control to keep pitching a 5X forward speed for each session of time/story jumping in and out. It ended up with that I spent only another 1 minute for watching the rest stories from 16th minute till the end of the film. When you are watching this film. You would end up with just pressing on the forward-speed button on your remote control. The content and stories of this film is totally 100% garbage.
