I'd call it an O-may-ga with the first styllable stressed instead of O-MEE-ga - just in case you ever run into a Yank who has no idea what you're on about. That watch is a beauty. American astronauts liked sticking with things they knew worked, when given the option for obvious reasons. The original Mercury flights were done with maths calculated by a bunch of very smart ladies, and the Apollo missions kept them as backup. (the women couldn't blue-screen!)

The Speedmaster Mark II has been used in spaceflight training (e.g. Skylab-4 by Edward Gibson) but it was the Omega Mark III which was chosen to be worn by Russian cosmonauts during Soyuz 15, 24 and Soyuz 33 between 1974 and 1979. The Soviet-Russian cosmonauts, selected from the military pilot corps, also liked the Omega Flightmaster pilot watch which was worn during Soyuz 14 & Soyuz 21 missions and during Apollo-Soyuz training in 1974. #MoonwatchUniverse
