My ps4 controller lasted 6 years while I was in my youth. After a year and a half I've had 3 controllers so far because essentially are pieces of crap just look at the i-fixit review of them! Having no real compatible alternatives is intentional the people who try and defend them are laughable! Screw haptic feedback and touch pad bullshit just give me something that doesn't break

Your first 4 tips are plausible, but stick drift is fairly quick and easy to fix so there replacing it should more be a last option. You also seem to have missed that the issue may be resolved by updating the controller software or resetting it using a pin. Depending on the issue these things should be tested before even considering replacing it. It's basic troubleshooting. If there are someone who doesn't know how to do this, then there are plenty of youtube tutorials showing you how to fix some of these problems. Specially when it comes to stick drift. With stick drift the only reasons you should really consider replacing it is if you can't fix it by cleaning the pot meters (does require you to take the controller apart, so if you are not feeling up for that then consider replacing it). One of the other reasons to replace it would be if you want to replace it rather than try to fix it.

For me, I had just gotten my Ps5 for Christmas, and the worked pretty well until 2 months ago when the left stick started drifting, I haven't gotten a replacement yet, cause I'm still looking at options, but it's things like this that make one miss the days when controllers came with the chord attached, why did game companies stop doing that?

I've fixed my stick drift on a controller of 2 years until the actual box that held that piece that isn't supposed to have its metal bent, snapped off the side of the housing of the joystick. Looking forward to my future edge Dontrelle.

Yeah, after three of Dualshock 4 controllers connect were broken during charging up, i learned the lesson and bought this charging station for Dualsense. But there comes another problem, i think actually my right trigger is broken when i have haptic feedback turned on, instead of going smooth it just snaps at half way, and this happened like 4 days after i bought the console. Probably the best controllers i had in my hands, but very faulty.

Hi John, so I have the most bizarre scenario 💔 I literally have this PS5 controller for a month now and I experiencing issues with some internal components (I assume). While using the right analog, moving the analog stick to the left (directional) it starts triggering the L2 button. So when trying to move the camera to the left on FPS games, it immediately starts to ADS. I'd just like to add that I've never dropped the controller or anything so I'm quite confused. I've contacted the merchants to see if there's anything they can do as it's still under warranty but in worse case scenario is there an easy fix for this issue? I've also ran a diagnostics on Gamepad Tester and it shows the very slightest of triggering on the L2 button when pushing the right stick to the left. By the way I'm a big fan of your videos, really has helped me to maintain my console 👍

I wouldn’t know what to do with that but I’ve run into another bizarre scenario myself. It’s been like this ever since about a month after getting my PS5 which unfortunately might just be a console problem that I’ve accepted living with (nothing else is wrong) but I actually have problems where my controllers take an abnormally long amount of time to charge. Battery life is okay on all of them, but no matter what different cables I have or controllers they all will take typically 12-24 hours to charge them fully even from 1 bar and I rarely have let them go down to less than a bar of battery. If I get lucky, maybe 8 hours of charging if it’s the white controller that came with the console but all the others take usually between the 12-24 hours which basically means most times I’m playing wired because otherwise I’d have multiple controllers charging at once.

I had a similar issue with my controller where my L3 triggered my triangle and then my triangle button broke and started working again after a few months then my down arrow stopped working and now works completely fine but now i suddenly have the worst stick drift imaginable. Never dropped the controller once or threw it.

sony know issues of stick drift and they release a controller where u can replace the sticks. The price of the components are very very cheap. 25 Euro i have to pay for one fcking stick while a controller is arround 65 Euro. A Pack of 10 (ebay) potentiometer are around 5 Euro. Ive had my controller that came with the ps5 for 8 months but only used it for 2. Since ive had a scuff controller. My scuff broke and been using the controller that came with the console last 2 months. A few days ago the right stick started going the opposite direction of what I was moving. I would turn left lightly and it would start moving right. It wasn’t stick drift. Because when I let go of the stick it stopped dead center and didn’t move. So I brought the controller to the shop I bought it from, keep in mind I also pay for insurance, and they said they will not replace it and will send it in for maintenance and I will be charged for it. The controller has barely been used. Looks completely new. But according to them thats what Sony have been pushing them to do. Sony design a controller with durability issues then try to stop people from getting a new one when it breaks.

Nope, haven't had such an issue, maybe you are heat throttling, I would recommend pulling off your side plates and seeing if your air intakes are clogged up with dust not allowing proper cooling. I've seen other YT channels have PS5's not working correctly and that was the issue.

@@LeviAckerman-fg4ww that’s normal, 60 FPS isn’t actually exactly 60, for me my tv says it’s running around 59,33 FPS, it kind of depends on the game, and it also depends on if you’re on resolution or performance mode, when i was playing LIS True Colors on resolution mode it kept jumping from 48 to 59.22 FPS, then when i changed it to performance mode, apart from the noticeable difference in fps it was at a consistent 59.33 again

And the other thing, PlayStation don’t actually tell you the charge cables, they supply with your console, only charge cables if you’ve got no controllers connected to your console and you put it in safe mode on a normal charge cable will not connect the controller. You have to have a data transfer cable

I need urgent help. Happens to me a lot. Usually what I do is put it in safe mode and click "reset PS5 settings" and then it works again. Don't factory reset your console you will lose everything. Just reset the console settings. You'll have to fix every setting again that you had set before when you get console back on. Hope that helps.

My guess is that there might be gunk or whatever inside the rubber for the dpad buttons. I suggest you take your controller apart and take a look and see if it’s dirty, if it is then clean it and then put your controller all back together and then see if your left button is functioning better than before.

I watched a vid and fixed mine. Had a long fiber down on the part that moves the stick. Cleaned the sensors, with a little alcohol and and moved it around and it fixed it. I had another one so the same, eh it didn’t work so I pissed smashed it lol

Chuck a 6th sign in there and that's when your TRIGGERS go off without even touching the controller.. Headset, notice getting static with my headphones plugged in the controller. I then noticed that my controller would not charge fully. Stay on one (3 total) charge icon only. I also noticed that the icon for charging wouldn't stay on. I had to do the same thing you did and had to re plug it in to see the charging icon appear. So you replaced the controller and cable? It never failed, you needed to repair it back to your console with a cable or via Bluetooth with another controller or remote play

I'm on my 4th ps5 controller. The 1st got stick drift in the right stick, really bad. 2nd the r2 button stop responding , 3rd the headset jack won't read my headset ( headset works fine on others but they have their listed issue) the 4th will not hold a charge. I love my ps5 but the controller is terrible, I had 2 ps4 controllers and they both work just fine but I am tired of buying new controllers because of shit QC..
